I visited your Flickr page and saw all the photos. I saw 5 photos, but the blog was not slow. Flickr is a great site, isn't it?(I don't know how it works, though.) Is it your album on the net? Now, you can show us a lot of photos without any problems!

I have a 「Nintendo DS」, too!
私は「もっと英語漬け」を一ヶ月前からやりはじめました。
実はゲーム関係は苦手なので、DSには全く興味がなかったのですが、知り合いが「英語漬けは面白いよ」とすすめてくれたので、購入しました。
以前マックさんから、リスニングの練習は"ディクテーション(英語を聞き取って書き取るトレーニング）"をするのがよいと教えていただいたので、少しづつですが毎日やっています。
最初は全然聞き取れなかったのですが、最近少し聞き取れるようになってきました。
でもなかなか一回では聞き取れませんが。
私も頑張ります！！

ディクテーションをやられているとは素晴らしいですね。自分もやっていますが、なかなか大変ですネ。

実際のビジネスでナチュラルスピードで話された場面の『I've called this meeting.』 という文は短くて簡単だし、聴いて意味もわかります。

ですが、ディクテーションをやろうとすると“アイコールザミーティング”と聞き取れます。３，４度聴いても同じです。『've』のヴの音や『lled』のドの音が次の音と一緒に聞こえてしまい、ディクテーションを間違えます。

ガッカリすることもありますが、こうした点に気づくことでリスニングの力がつくことを期待しつつやってます。あきらめずに続けて行くべきだ、と自分に言い聞かせながらやってます。

「もっと英語漬け」は、したことありませんが面白そうですね。
いったん始めたら、どっぷりはまりそうです．．．．
ディクテーションは地道な努力が必要ですが、マックさんの言われるようにリスニング力はつきます。私もそう思って時々（?!）してます。

Yesterday I watched the "KABUKI" play at the theater. (It's called "KAOMISE,顔見世: once a year special play performed for 25 days). Plays were " Yositune sennbonnzakura 義経千本桜"　and two others. They were gorgeous and elegant, and I enjoyed them very much.

私は「I'm」「I'll」「I've」が全く聞き分けられません…。
なので、聞き取るというより後に続く単語から連想してるという感じです。これでは聞き取りの練習にならないかもしれませんが。
どこまでが一つの単語なのかを聞き取ることも難しいです。

なんとなく敷居が高そうで…。
But if I have a chance, I want to see it.
Yes, "もっと英語漬け" is interesting, but it is very difficult for me.
I try to study by it everyday in my spare time.

"flickr" is very famous photo sharing site. I was introduced it by my boss (for work). I have an account with flickr(you may know...), and if you want to create an account with flickr, First you create an account with Yahoo (not Yahoo Japan). So you can signin to flickr site with your Yahoo account!!!

October has come, and I feel there is a autumn flavor in my town.
This month, all schools in my town (elementary schools and junior high
schools and senior high schools) have a marathon.(マラソン大会）
They take place on a different schedule.
At this time of year, I can see a lot of students who is running for a marathon on a road.
They remind me of my school days.
When I was a student, I ran every year.
All the schools I commuted to ran on the sandy beach in the marathon.(My town is near a sea.)
I'm not good at running, so it was very hard to do.
Did your schools have a marathon?

日本語で「あなたに○○を紹介します」と言うようなとき、英語ではだいたい "introduce you to ○○" と言っています。日本語と英語の感覚の違いではないでしょうか。

I live in a seaside town.
と、書くかな・・・

I introduce you to xxx. は動詞の持つ使用時の制限から、
introduce 何を（Ｏ1） to　xxx　誰に、どこに等（Ｏ2）として使います。辞書をみると、introduceを“紹介する”という意味で使う場合は、【ＳＶＯ1(to O2)】の形をとると書いてあります。

write の場合は、
I write you a letter.
I write a letter to you. でも日本語の意味には大きな違いが無く、話すときに心に浮かんだ順、つまり、you　が先に浮かんだか、a letter　が先に浮かんだかでその単語を使って話します。

『 わたしの町は海の近くにあります』と考えて英文を書くとThere is xxxx.　という文章になることが多いですが、わたしは海の近くの町に住んでいます、わたしの町は海の近くにあります
などと考えると別の主語を使ったり、locate　を使った英文になります。

英語を書く場合、日本語で言いたいことは何か、別な日本語表現ができいか、を考えてから英文を書くようにしています。カッコ付けて言えば、日本語を日本語に訳してから英文を書いています。この手順はオススメですヨ。

さっき広報委員の仕事を終えて帰ってきました。　Pandaからご指名をいただいたので。。(Thanks!＾＾)

Pandaの言う通り、There is /are の使い方は去年Davidが教えてくれました。　Davidの説明によると・・

『There is/areはものや人などの存在を表す表現です。特定したものに対してはあまり使いません。だから、There is a pencil on the desk.はOKですが、There is the pencil on the desk.は普段言いません。（特別に言えるケースもあるけど…）

とりあえず、日本人の英語語学習者は、以下の２ポイントを覚えておけばいいでしょう：

１．物や人の存在を表したいなら、英語ではthere is/areを使うことが多いです。
２．特定したものの位置や場所を言うならthere is/areではなくて、その物や人を主語にすべきです。』

ということです。

Amica, もっと詳しく知りたい場合は2006年5月29日｢There is /are｣のエントリーを読んでみてね(＾_-)-☆　修正案はPandaと同じで、私だったら‘My town is near the sea.’って書くかな。　あとは‘I live by/near the sea.’とか。

Hi everyone,
A few days ago, the doctor said I had better stay in the hospital. I couldn’t do that because of my young daughter, so he let me go home on condition that I take a complete bed rest（絶対安静）. I have a check-up tomorrow again. Depending on the result, I might be forced to stay in the hospital until I have a baby. もししばらく私からのコメントがなかったら、「収容されたな･･･」と思ってください。前回も入院させられたので、今回もいつそうなるかビクビクです。つわりといい、切迫早産といい、つくづく妊娠に向いてないようです(;;)

実は訂正をポストしたあとも、「My town」が主語でよかったんじゃないかな…と悩んでいたんです。
でも考えれば考えるほどわからなくなってしまって…。
「a」と「the」もいつも悩みます。
使い分け方がイマイチよくわからなくて、その日の気分で適当に使ってしまっています。
これではダメですよね(^^;)
またおかしな文章になっていたら、どんどん指摘してくださいね！

温かいメッセージありがとう！　なんとか入院だけは免れて帰ってきました。毎週土曜が検診なのですが、これから毎回ドキドキです。絶対安静にかわりはないので、ほとんどコメントできないのが残念です。それでも、夫が家事子育てすべてやってくれるので、私はまだラッキーなほうですよね。（今朝も起きたらすでに洗濯物がきれいに干されてありました。）

不謹慎なんて、そんなことないですよ。元気に働いている人こそ疲れてますからね。私なんて安静にしてるおかげで体力あり余ってるので、そういう心境にならないだけです。切迫早産って、私自身は痛くもしんどくもないので･･･。つわりのほうがよっぽどつらかったです。あのときは入院したかったなぁ･･･（笑）

Hi Everyone Else,
My surprising news is not really very surprising at all - I bought another bike! Do you remember me telling you that I had a test ride on a BMW a few months ago? Well, I found one for sale for a very good price last week, so now there are four bikes sitting in my garage. I went for a long ride up to the Minami Alps in Nagano yesterday, and it was wonderful. The new bike is great for going fast, but it's also easy to ride slowly, and you can even go off-road. I will show you a picture soon.

I'm going up to Chiba today for a conference, and I won't be back until tomorrow night, so the next entry will be on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm going to ask for your help with a new project, so I hope all the regulars will be around next week.

In the meantime, please write any questions you have for Nathan or Andrew.
