The funeral

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your messages of support. It is amazing how many people know someone who died of cancer at a young age. Anyway, it made me feel a lot better that so many people now know about Sone san, so thank you for caring. If any of you have anything that you would like to talk about, please feel free. (Tomo, I hope your daughter is feeling better.)

Tomorrow is Sone san's funeral, so I am going to Gifu in the morning. I am actually feeling quite nervous about the funeral. One thing I don't really like about Japan is that there are so many 決まり for everything.

For example, when you put the money in the envelope, it has to be facing the right way. (Some of my Japanese friends didn't even know that!) Actually, whe n I went to the wake, I was so terrified of doing something wrong or making a mistake that I wasn't really thinking about Sone san at all. I was only really able to think about the meaning of the ceremony when it was over and I was outside the building. I know Japanese people like to do things according to set formulas, but it is very stressful for non-Japanese! Anyway, tomorrow, I am going to make sure I concentrate on thinking about her and not worry about the protocol. I hope I will have a chance to talk to her family this time.

Anyway, hope you all have a great weekend. Speak to you soon.

David

PS I am not doing any recordings at the moment because I have absolutely no time! I promise I will do some more when things have calmed down a bit.

Comments

David, I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. And thanks for worrying about my daughter. She is also feeling better. Now, she can sleep well without medicine.
As you says, Japanese people like to do things according to set formulas, and there are a lot of 決まり for everything, but I believe there is nothing more important than your 気持ち. As you said, all you need to do is just thinking about her, so you don't have to get nervous about the funeral. きっと Sone san に届くと思います。

Take care and talk to you soon,

Tomo

David,
It is so nice to hear that you feel better. As Tomo said, you don't have to get nervous. Your feelings are the most important, I belive, too.

Tomo, Lily, Anne and Amica,
Thank you very much for all your heartwarming comments! でもHappy anniversary・・・はちょっとはずかしい(^^;)Thanks a lot!!

Tomo,
I'm glad to hear your daughter is feeling better.

The weather during this weekend will be still unusually cold. Please take care!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Maki

Hi David,
I'm glad to hear you feel is better.
I pray for the repose of Sone-san's soul.

Hi Everyone,
Today, I tried a test of English of national center test for university.
It was hard for me to do it, particularly it was very hard to understand a long article in the test.
There was lots of words I don't know in it, so I could hardly understand it, and I couldn't even suppose the contents of it.
I got 96 on the test.(200点満点)
かなり情けない点数ですが、「半分しかわからなかった」ではなく、「半分もわかった」と前向きに捉えたいと思います。
来年は100点突破を目指します!

See you soon,

Amica

David,

I read your blog. I can guess whether no matter how much your heart mourned from your contents. I sympathize with you heartily and I pray your friend's soul may rest in peace.

Tomo,

Thank you for your immediate welcome comment. I'm beginner of PC, so that my PC sometimes doesn't work well. Errors appear many times and trouble me.

Talk to you soon

Kiyoko

Hi Amica,
You tackled with the English test of the National Center test? That's great!
By the way, When I was young, there wasn't such a test and a system.

Hi everyone,
Today is "大寒(taikan)",the coldest day in winter, according to the calender.

Speak to you soon,

Anne
