Thanks for letting us show excerpts from your new book. These are so helpful and easy to understand, so what I have to do now is to make sentences using each word.
1.from now
David が言われるように、「今から」＝「～から」→from nowとなってしまうと思いました。

２．ride.
「～に乗っていく」＝go~by, ride, take, bike, drive...
I thought I couldn't handle 'ride' smoothly at the moment.

3.tension
As for this word, David kindly explained to my question recently, so I wanted to read an explanation again. Anyway, I got to know how to express those feelings using another expressions.

訂正：
＊I felt wilting this Saturday→i felt wilting last Saturday.
＊ I do manage to keep studying.→I can manage to keep studying.
＊「出来る」「やっと～出来る」
I read the part "could/was able to/ manage to" in the David's book, and I think I could understand his explanations, but when it comes to use' manage to', it's a little difficult to catch the precise nuance of ' manage to'.
「なんとか～出来る」と言う状態を表すには、manage to なのかcan manage to なのか迷うところです。

Hi David,
It is so hot everyday. I'm getting tired because of the summer heat. In recent days, I wasn't motivated to writing in English. (I was reading this blog, though.) About your new book, it is very difficult for me to choose the part I want to see. All the items are words I want to learn more, so I want to see all of them!（笑）Honestly, I don't know which ones I should choose...

About "tension", I have heard "high/low tension" is 和製英語, but I didn't know "tension" means "筋肉の緊張、嫌な雰囲気、またはロープなどをぴんと張ること". "from now"も、使ってしまっていたような気がします。rideとdrive…うーん、ややこしい！これは自分使いこなすにはまだ時間がかかりそうです。

Hi Everyone

It had been already new entry. it is quite lively in this blog isn't it? I got back from Logo Land and London for 3 days. I have never seen to crowd there like Tokyo Disney Land. but it was waiting time up to 90minutes.

We rent a Q-Bot for £10 extra per person. it is similar Fast Pass system. If I got Fast Pass, but a lot of people got same tickets, so we had to wait for 15minutes more? but Most of people didn't have Q-Bot. so I just wait next ride if I arrive.

Did you prefer £10 extra or wait 90minutes? I think that this system isn't a good idea in Japan. Everyone rent it. right? and there are limited number of them. maybe... but when I rent it there still left a lot.

I think so too, There are a lot of words English verb even thought Japanese verb for one. Of course same as adjective and adverb etc. so you can translate easily from English to Japanese?

I think that common phrase 'manage to' not 'can manage to'.
でも、ごめんなさい。今、辞書を調べたら、 'can manage to' もありました。（今まで使った事がありませんでした）ちょっと考えてみます。

Thank you for the easy-to-understand explanations .
Actually, I also wanted to know about 「今から」, but it would have been too many requests (6 are still too many, though)if I had added it, so I didn't choose it. I see, We can describe the situations with "tense" in stead of some words which describe time like "from now".
Do English speakers guess the meaning of 「これからも」from the tense and the context as well?　This Japanese word is very convenient because it has two meanings in one word. One is the past which means you've been doing something,and the other is the future which means you are going to do or will continue to do something.
ex)
これからも勉強頑張ります。
It means "I've been studying hard and will keep it up"

これからもよろしくお願いします。
It is so difficult to say it in English, because there is no English expression to translate　"よろしくお願いします" as you told us before and it seems like we can't translate literally "これからも"　as well as "よろしくお願いします".　In Japanese ,we use this expression at the different situations,but maybe in English,we have to change the expressions depending on the situations .

そうなんです、あのお腹がフワッとくる感じがどうもダメなんです。スピードは昔に比べてかなり平気になったんですけど、あの落ちる感じだけはどうしても克服できないんですよね。あれを楽しめちゃうなんてすごいな−。Luck youです。話を聞いていたら、バイクの後ろにのるのも気持ちよさそうなので、機会があったらぜひ挑戦してみますね！　しかしその機会がなかなかない〜。。。。

But to do that, i need to get a motorcycle driver license.........hmmm, It looks difficult.....

‘manage’という単語は、あんまり自分で使ったことがないのですが、manage to～ は「何とか～する」で、can manage to～「何とか～できる」という感じではないでしょうか・・。　でも「する」と「できる」のボーダーラインって曖昧な時がありますよね。　例えば・・
I speak English. / I can speak English.
Do you speak English? / Can you speak English?
う～ん、うまく言えませんが、ちょっとだけニュアンスが違うような・・。　例えば「何とかできる」って言いたい時は、私は can を入れて、‘I can manage. / I think I can manage.’とすると思います。
Asahi と同じで 'manage to' は「何とか～できた」(managed to)という過去の文の方が使いやすいかな・・。　私は「何とかできる」なら‘can’を入れて、「何とかする」&「何とかできた」なら‘can’を入れないで使うと思います。

How’s your weekend?
I can’t find the word to say except’ 暑いよ～！’　At Tazimi city in Gifu Prefecture nearby Aichi , officers decided to announce “ heat stroke warning(　熱中症警報)"　from this year, and yesterday was the first day ; the temperature exceeded 38 degrees.
“heat stroke warning!” Isn’t it really a new word !
Actually an air-conditioner of my kitchen has broken at last, and asked an electric store nearby my house to install new one. The good thing about a small shop is we don’t need to wait that much.
*About ‘ manage to’

I usually don’t use it in present tense, so I wonder which is better ,or if there are other ways to express.
過去形で用いる時には、Davidの本にもあるように、自分でもつかめていると思うのですが、現在形では？と疑問符がつきました。Tomoが言うように、ボーダーラインは難しいですね。

About Q-Bot, it depends on the situation; I mean if the temperature is ridiculously high like these days in Japan, I would rent it , but I 'm rather kind of type waiting patiently.割と気長～に待つ事は平気です。
Tomo, ￡1　is equivalent to about ￥215　recently, I guess.

Hi Everyone

Sounds in Japan has been very hot since summer holiday. take care.
It has been nice weather here. My house doesn't have an air conditioner. but the nice wind is coming in my room.

I asked my English friend about 'manage to' and 'can manage to'. In his opinion 'manage to' was for present tense, 'can manage to' for future tense.

This is my friend's sentence.
'I manage to do 30 minutes exercise every day'. - this is something I am currently doing.

'I can manage to finish this project by the end of the week' - I haven't finished it yet, but I feel able to do it. ('can' or 'will' can be used?)

but I asked him my example

I can manage to get through terrible summer holiday with my sons. (me)

I will manage to get through the terrible summer holidays with my sons. (friend)
'I will manage' sounds better in this case.

これを見て解釈すると、毎日の日課のようなものを何とかこなす場合は、'manage to'. 現在形

確かな答えになりませんが、未来の事についても、何とかできる可能性があれば、'can manage to'.
何とかできるであろう漠然としたものなら'will' 'can' が使えるのでは? と解釈しましたが、いかがでしょうか？
解釈の違いは非常に難しいですが。

PS. Q-Bot システムについては、乗りたい乗り物に予約を入れると、乗れる時間が表示されます。（大体４０分以内に、）多分込んでいるところでこれぐらい、空いているところだと、１０分後ぐらいに予約ができます。なので、その時間までは、好きなところで座って待ってられるし、休憩もできるという訳で、とてもいいシステムを知りました。これが、ディズニーランドでもあればと思った次第です。

This morning I found some article on the newspaper: Professor Randy Pausch died of pancreatic cancer(すい臓がん). Actually I didn’t know who he was, but I was curious to know about him after reading the article.(My husband always says that I am easy to be touched , or influenced with people or something…..) Anyway, Dr. Pausch, 47, a computer science professor, delivered the lecture “ Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,”, and became a kind of phenomenon on the Internet and his book” The Last Lecture “also became a bestseller. If you are interested in his talks, you can listen on You Tube just typing’ Randy Pausch achieving your childhood dreams’ into the 'search' box in You Tube.( about I hour and 16 min.)It was about meaning of life, and gave me a chance to think about a lot of things .

Yes, the " heat stroke warning" is a new word to me as well. It seems like a word related to heat is created every year, this year " heat stroke warning", last year "extremely hot day(猛暑日)". As everyone knows, it's very hot in Japan now, but I was shockingly surprised to read an e-mail from one of my friends living in Dubai,saying "the temperature was 53 degrees the other day". 53c!! Can you believe that? Then I realized I mustn't complain about heat in front of him.
Lastly, Thank you for the information about Professor Randy Pausch. I'll check it later.

Thank you for showing us what your English friend told you about " manage to". It's difficult to understand the nuances and the slight differences of those phrases even thought we look them up in the dictionary. So It's very helpful to know how they use them in their daily life. and the exercise of could and manage to~ was interesting.
