Index for the new book

Hi Team,

Did you all have a nice weekend? I went out on my bike yesterday, and I think I went to the same place as Tomo's husband! I wend to a place called Mitsui no Mori in Nagano, and I think I was near Utsukushigaoka because I saw signs for it. There were a lot of cars with Tokyo numbers there, so I guess it is popular with people from a wide area. Anyway, there were a lot of bikers there, so Tomo - maybe I passed your husband somewhere along the road.

On Saturday, I had planned to work, and I came to my office, but I didn't get very much done. I was planning to work on my PhD thesis, but I ended up playing with You Tube instead. Some days I find it really easy to work, but other days, I can't do anything; Saturday was one of those days. Actually, I did manage to do a bit of work on the English introduction for my new book, and I also read through the Japanese index, which my editor at ALC sent me on Friday. This week, I thought it might be nice to show you that and let you tell me which parts you want to read. I have saved it as a text file, so you should be able to open it on any computer.

If you have read my other books, you will recognize some of the same topics, but the explanations are all new. If you let me know which ones you want to see, I will post them on the blog later this week.

Bye for now,

David

Hi David,

I'm glad to know that you enjoyed your day with your bike and beautiful piece of scenery; by the way it's really a coincidence for both Tomo's husband and you being almost the same area, isn't it?
These three days were so hot and I felt dizzy when I went out during daytime yesterday.

As for your new book, I opened the file, and read all the items. Honestly, it's difficult for me to choose a few topics I want to read.
OK, here are the ones which I want to read first and most.
1. 今から ( from now)

Looking forward to your explanations and hearing other member's choice.

Speak to you soon,

Anne

Hi David and Tomo,

David,
How amazing! You and Tomo's husband were in the same place yesterday, in Nagano, riding bike each other?
Marvelous! Tomo's husband were maybe passed somewhere along the road by David?
Next time what will be happen? I look forward to your next story of bike.

Tomo,
Yes, my son's e-mail is like a scheduled report. ha,ha,ha.
According to his mail, I'm able to eat some kinds of his lovely vegitables, tomorrow. I'm happy.

Good night,

Kiyoko

Hi David,

You went to the same place as my husband?! What a coincidence! Yes, it is popular with people from a wide area, and I've been there several times. If you see my husband somewhere next time, please say 'Hi' to him.(but he doesn't understand English, so please talk to him in Japanese.) He calls you ‘David先生’, and he knows your BMW bike.(My husband's bike is a black Yamaha Fazer.) I told him that you went to the same place yesterday, and he said, 「今度ツーリングお願いします!って言っておいて」だそうです(笑) If you have a chance to go touring with my husband someday, please ride slowly for him!
Anyway, I'm glad to hear you had a great time with your bike:)

About your new book, the parts I want to see(or want to ask you some questions) are;

Actually, I got a question from my niece the other day, but I couldn't answer it. My niece takes ballet lessons. How do you say ‘バレエをする’ in English? ‘I do ballet.’?

‘By myself’ means ‘1人で’, doesn't it? You have some other expressions that have the same meaning like 'alone' or 'on my own'. When do you use them?

By the way, I understand exactly what you said, ‘Some days I find it really easy to work, but other days, I can't do anything’. Some days I find it really easy to study English, but other days, I can't do anything.

Talk to you later,

Tomo

Hi Kiyoko,
Thanks for your comment! You will be able to eat your son's vegetables tomorrow? They must taste sweet!

You will be able to eat your son's vegetables tomorrow? → You can eat your son's vegetables tomorrow?

'tomorrow' につられて 'will be able to' にしたのですが、何となくこっちの方がいいかな、と思ったので。。

Sorry! I've posted my comment to the last entry....
Let me post the same one here again.

Hi David,
Wow, it really is a coincidence that where you went was the same place as Tomo's husband had chosen to go.
I had a good weekend though I just got one day off. I saw some of my friends I hadn't seen for a while and enjoyed chatting ,which lets my stress out, with them.

As for the index for your new book.
Everything seems very useful for us English learners, so it's so hard to choose only a few of them. hmmm, I'm sorry it's too many, but let me choose the top 6,which I want to see ,out of the list.

2. 今 (now)
5. 〜に (for/to)

I wonder which ones will be chosen by other members. I'm looking forward to the explanations!

Hi Tomo,
Actually, No, I don't really like roller coasters, but if it's the one not so high like the space mountain or the big thunder mountain,it will be fine. However, It's absolutely impossible to ride the Fujiyama! I might faint if I rode it..... Don't you feel like your stomache is floating when your roller coaster is going down at a terrific speed? Oh, I can't take it. I guess... you can enjoy it, can't you? or you might not even feel it?
I've found another thing I respect about you ! :-)
You said it felt great to ride on the back of someone's bike, didn't you? I may be able to feel so because now I 'm old enough. So, I'd like to have a go at riding on the back of the bike when I have an opportunity!

Have a good day!

Asahi

the space mountain → Space Mountain
the big thunder mountain → Big Thunder Mountain
the fujiyama → Fujiyama

Hi Yasu,

I noticed your latest comment at the former entry, so would you mind my copying and pasting it here?

Here's Yasu's comment;

Hi Asahi

Thank you for your comment..^^

今でも,ほんとに怖かったことを覚えています。^^;
but It is so nice to feel the wind when I ride a bike by myself...!!
Tomo-san feels so too...

I think it is not scary if you ride a bike by yourself... ^^

Hi Tomo

You saw a car-motorcycle accident, but you accept him to ride a bike....
I think you worry about he ride a bike, but you also worry about his mental condision... don't you?(優しいですね^^)
I understand your husband's situation...please take care of him....
I think your husband is so happy..!!

Anyway, You felt the wind when you rode on the back....Tomo-san!! ^^

That's a fantastic experience...
but I've never ridden with my wife in the back, because she don't wanna ride in the back...
I'll contiune to discuss about a bike with my wife.

p.s. Wow, your husband's sister and her husband are riding "Harley Davidson"....??
That's great...!!
I wanna get it like them near the future...!!

Thanks a lot...^^

Yasu

*One of my dreams is riding on the back of someone's bike!!

Anne

Hi David,

It's so nice to know that you enjoyed riding your bikes and also beautiful sceneries. Besides, it's really a coincidence that both you and Tomo's husband were riding through the same area!

As for your new book, the parts I want to read are;
☆~後に・以内に(later/after)
☆~以外に・~のほかにも(except/apart from/besides)
☆今から(from now)・・・the same as Anne
I'm looking forward to your explanations.

Anne,
During the holidays, it was rainy and the max temperature here was around 22c. I can't imagine how hot your area is!

By for now,
Maki

Hi David and everyone,
I understand what David said about work 'Some days I find it really easy to work, but other days, I can't do anything'. Whatever it may be, some days I find it easy to do, and some days not. Actually, I'm not studying English for work, just for my personal reasons. No one blames me even if I don't keep studying, so everyday would go by without English. Thanks to this blog, I do manage to keep studying.

Maki,
22℃?I can't believe that temperature. I felt wilting this Saturday.(あ~融ける~、と言う気分でした。)

Bye for now,

Anne

Hi Asahi,

Hi Yasu,
Thanks for your message!(and thanks Anne for posting Yasu's new comment here!) You can talk about anything on the latest entry even if it has nothing to do with the topic we have now. David doesn't usually check old entries.

See you all soon,

Tomo

PS Yasu, call me Tomo, and you can call anyone without 'san' here;-)

PPS Maki、22℃?!

Hi David,

How was your "BMW"...??
It was a good weather at "Mitsui no mori",wasn't it?
I imagine the beautiful scenery that you were looking at there, when I read your story about riding bike.

Hi Anne,

Thank you for your help..^^
Next time, I'll post my comments to the new entry.

Hi Tomo,

Thank you for your useful advice...
I didn't know David doesn't usually check old entries...
I'll post to the new entry...(気をつけます ^^;)

今日も暑いですね~^^;
Everyone, take care of yourselves please...

Talk to you again,

Yasu
