The Best Place to Live in Japan

Hi team,

And Happy Birthday Amica! There are a lot of birthdays this month and next month, so please forgive me if I forget anyone. Today's topic is something I have been thinking about a lot recently. I have lived in Hokkaido, and now I live in the Chubu region of Japan. In Hokkaido, the summers are lovely, but they are too short. The winter is fun, but it is too cold, and there is too much snow.

In Seto, winter is okay, but it would be nice to have a bit more snow. The summers, unfortunately, are horrible - too hot and sticky.

So what I have been thinking is that as Japan is a country that basically runs north-south, there should be an area somewhere in between Seto and Sapporo that has perfect seasons. If there is, I want to know where it is: can anyone help?

Incidentally, I heard an amusing comment the other day. A British guy was complaining that Japanese people always go on about Japan having four seasons. He said, "Japan doesn't have four seasons, it has two seasons: too bloody hot, and too bloody cold!" Actually that was what started me on my quest to find the perfect place to live in Japan.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions (and arguments over whose hometown is best!)

Bye for now,

David
