Actually, I like to see some interview.
I often see some interview in the You tube.
It is not famous people though.
It is a tourist from all over the world.
They say their name,their country,and their purpose.
Something like that, it is useful for me.
I feel as if I'm doing sightseeing.
I can see a lot of their reaction.
For learner, it is useful.

Hi everyone,

This is my experience of Golden week break.

I enjoyed with my older sister's family.
They stayed at my house Just a day.
My sister has 2 daughters.
My sister's daughters are identical twin.
Like まな & かな.
So I always can't tell them apart,which is which.
They are 2nd grade of junior high school.
Oops, I'm not sure exactly.(^_^;) or 3rd grade.
We played cards.
It was tough to play cards with my nieces.
I was amazing!
We played "神経衰弱”　
As you know there are a lot of cards on the table hiding.
we can pick 2 cards and open it.
If the card's number are correct with the other, you can get them.
Amazingly, they were able to get them a lot of pair of cards.
Their skill of memorizing is great.
I couldn't believe that.
I tried to it back to back but I didn't win.
But in case of another game,I did win.
That game called "スピード"
Do you know that game?
Now then, I'll tell you about that game in English.
Explaining of how to game in English is difficult but I'll try it.

　"The speed"

A opponent is in front of you.
You have red cards and opponent have black cards.
Before game started, you spread 4 cards in front of you.
Same as you do, the opponent also spread 4 cards.
There are 4 cards opened in front of you each.
With the voice of cue, you spread 1 card to the place between you and opponent.
From the moment the game started.
Rest of them, all you have to do is sequence the number from 4 cards.
If your card empty fast more than opponent, you are the win.

My Golden week break was not so stimulating.
But I could feel relaxed.

This was my experience of Golden week break.

Hi David,
Glad to hear you had some fun with your bike yesterday. It was very hot here as well, and it was 30! It seems like we are having summer already.. I want to enjoy lovely spring weather more!

I only knew two talk-show hosts Ellen Degeneres and Michael Parkinson. It's often difficult for me to catch Ellen's English because she speaks so fast, but she is funny, so I like to see her show. Actually, I watched some interviews on that show the other day including Barack Obama's one. Listening to politicians speaking, it's very unusual for me, though!
OK, I'll search for interesting interviews later.

Are you kidding? I'm good at it! I used to play that game a lot with my sister, and when we were playing it, some of the cards often flew in the air!(笑)
By the way, my 11-year-old niece is really good at playing concentration. She has a very good memory, and I can never win!

It was hot in Shikoku as well!
Glad to hear that you had a time to ride on a bike.

I like watching the videos on You Tube, especially when it comes to movie stars and musicians. Among the hosts you mentioned, I didn’t know Graham Norton, but I know other hosts. I also watch “ The Daily show” and “ Larry King Live”, and I sometimes check who is going to be a guest. To be honest, it’s difficult for me to catch the whole conversation, especially at the Daily show, but I like watching these videos.

I found a lot of interviews with English subtitles on You Tube, but all the people in those videos were not English speakers! I gave up to find interviews with English subtitles, but I found some videos of Susan Boyle's performance with Japanese subtitles, and I tried making a transcript of some parts of the conversation.(There are a lot of parts I couldn't catch, though.) Actually, when I first watched a video of Susan Boyle's performance, I heard Simon say, “Susan, you are a little tiger, aren't you?”, and I was very surprised and thought, “Tiger?? Why tiger??” I thought Simon said that in a good meaning, but I couldn't understand what he meant at that time. Anyway, if you are interested, please have a look at the video with Japanese subtitles. To find the video, type ‘スーザンボイル　日本語字幕’ in the search box on You Tube. If you have time, please help me with my transcript.

Hi everyone,

Long time no see. I had a great time with three kids and my family in the Golden Week holidays, and I was really tired. As Kazu says, the youth has a bottomless ability and power. So I like to communicate with them including the easy game or something. Yet, I hardly win.

I had a high school reunion for a long, on last Sunday. The same generation of sixty's women had met and yearned for each one's student time. However, many persons were absent from it.
The top of the reason was in the own bad condition. The second of it was the care.
Anyway, gathered people were all fine, and they recognized that NO.1 an importance is the health, and NO.2 is the money, and NO.3 is the friend.
Amazingly, one person has a lot of qualifications for enjoying her life, and she played the saxophone. She is learning it under a famous musician. Her breathing capacity is strong like a men, anyway. Besides, she works as an interpreter in the city. She looked too young!
I mean, there were a big difference between the powerful and powerless of the physical and the money.

Thanks for your help! プリビレッジ＝privilege　なるほど～、やっとスッキリしました！ with the head held high (with one's head held high 「胸を張って、自信を持って」)←この表現は知らなかった！　今もう一度‘こう言ってるはず’と思って聞いてきたら、やっと聞き取れました～。　それから、‘OK, ***** the truth’は‘OK, more on the truth’に聞こえちゃって意味不明だったんです。

Anne、私も最初は‘I'm really shocked’じゃないのかなぁ、と思ったのですが（それなら文法的にも理解できるので）、でもどうしても‘from’と言ってるような気がして（Anneも聞こえます？）＆shocked の‘ed’が聞き取れなくて。。　そうすると、おかしいのは‘really’かなぁ・・という気がしてきたのですが、細かい所とこの部分はあとでもう一度挑戦してきます！

Lily、ノンネイティブなら100点レベル？　嬉しいなぁ～♪　Thank you!　でも何回も聞いたし、日本語訳から英語を想像して聞き取れたところもあるから、ノーヒントだったらもっと聞き取れなかったよ。　a collection of ね～！　日本語訳（かたまった・集まった）から想像できた単語は‘gather’だけだったから、これはちっとも分からなかった。　知ってる単語なのになぁ・・。　Lilyがが書いてくれた所、‘こう言ってるはず’と思って聞いても、まだ聞き取れないからあとで再挑戦してくるね！　あ、でも‘with that cheeky’までは聞こえた！　それでこれは想像なんだけど、‘grin’ってことはないかな・・？　スーザンの表情は‘grin’って言わないかなぁ・・。

今回の宿題はちょっと難しいですよね。　なぜスクリプトを作ってみたかというと、スクリプトを見ながら聞いてみて欲しかったからです。　ネイティヴの英語をノーヒントで聞き取るのはすごく難しいですが、スクリプトを見ながら‘こう言ってるはず’と思って聞くと、かなり聞き取りやすくなると思うので。　本当は何かインタビューでと思ったのですが、他のインタビューはとてもディクテーションできるレベルではなかったので（難しすぎる！）・・。　スーザンボイルはこの間ブログで話題になって、興味を持った人も多かったし、審査員の人達はわりとゆっくりはっきり喋っているし、このビデオなら日本語訳もあるので意味も分かるし、いいリスニングの練習になるかなぁ・・と思って、このビデオで挑戦してみました。

もう出掛けなければいけないので、またあとで・・！

I just saw on the internet that the American Idol final is going to be between Adam and Kris. I'm glad it worked out like that because I never really thought the other guy (Danny) was all that good. Anyway, it's going to be an exciting final.

＊collection of...of が聞き取れなくて「ナル］と聞こえたんですよね。collectional はないから、co relationalかな、でもいみがあわないとか。。。

‘grin’正解？　やったー♪　でも Lily のスクリプトを見なかったら、何のことか想像もできなかったよ。　まだ聞き取れない所も残ってるけど、‘moment of truth’はようやく聞き取れた。　moment of truth 「正念場、決定的瞬間、最後の審判」←これも知らない表現でした。　やっぱりすごいリスニング力だね～。　その耳が欲しい！

collection of は何度聞いてもまだ‘コレイショナル’のままです。　なのでこれはもう諦めました（笑）　でもお2人のおかげで新しい単語と表現を覚えました。　ありがとうございます！　やっぱり知らない単語＆表現というのはなかなか聞き取れないものですね。。
tiger ですが、歌の中の tiger に掛けているんだと思います。　ただ歌詞の日本語訳を見ると、「虎が夜にやって来て、希望を八つ裂きにし・・」とあるので、本当にいい意味なのかな？？という疑問はあるのですが。。　でもあの雰囲気で言ったので、いい意味なんだろうなぁと思ってます。　本当に何度聞いても素晴らしい歌声ですね！　Susanのあの朗らかな人柄も好きです。

You are great because you could catch the conversation of the interview. I watched it, but I could hardly catch it.
When I stayed in Hawaii last month, I was spoken to a man in English. He was selling various honeys at a food wagon. After I sampled some honeys, I bought a honey, and he said "You like this honey? I like this best!". I could catch this sentence of him, but after this, I couldn't catch what he said. Actually, before I went to Hawaii, I was thinking my English conversation ability might have made progress because I have learned English on this blog for 2 years. But come to think of it, I only write in English, and I have hardly practiced speaking and listening English, so no wonder that I'm little able to have conversation in English. I need to practice them. When I read your comments, I realized it. Learning of English is not easy....

Hi Amica,

私も最初はネイティヴの英語を聞いても「☆％＆？！☆％＆？！」って感じだったよ。　時々簡単な単語が聞き取れるくらいで、文なんて全然聞き取れなかったし、細かい部分は聞こえもしなかった。　一時（2ヶ月くらいかな）毎日数時間、英語を聞いていた時があって、それで英語の音がちょっと聞こえるようになったの。　でも「英語の音は聞こえるけど意味は分からない」という状態でした。　リスニングは音に慣れることも大事だと思うけど、いろんな表現とか、文の流れとか、そういうのが自分の中にたまっていくと、想像できるようになるから、もっと聞き取れるようになると思うよ。　今回の私のリスニングを見てもらうと分かると思うけど、知らない表現ってなかなか聞き取れないんだよね。　だから、読んだり書いたりすることで、いろんな表現とか、英語の文の流れに慣れることもリスニング力アップにつながると思う。　まぁ、でも音に慣れるには聞く練習もしないとだし、喋るためには口に出す練習もしないとかな。　すぐには効果が出ないし、時間もかかることだけど、でも少しずつでも続ければ必ず上達するよ＾＾

I have been so busy that I had no time to write a comment here.
I used to listen to actors studio interviews when I had a subscription to English Journal.
That was a really good resource for me. I listened to it again and again at that time.
I haven’t listened to any interviews lately.

Hi Tomo, Anne and Lily

After reading Tomo’s transcript, I wanted to try it, and finally I was able to listen to it last night. You are amazing!! You could listen most of them. I could catch “moment of truth”, but I did not know the meaning. Also I did not know the phrase “cheeky grin”. Thanks to Tomo that you gave me a chance to build up my vocabulary.

It's raining around here, and a bit cold.
My computer has not worked well since the day yesterday, and everytime I I tried to post my comment, all my comment were rejected;night ,morning, noon and again night..Ha～... It's sooo stressful! I hope this time it works well.

How's your weekend going on? I'm just relieved to have a relaxing time after the hectic week. I tried to watch some videos on You Tube last week, but every time I went nodding off while I was watching them.(^^;) Anyway, I will do that again later.

The weather is fine today, and there are a lot of things to do as a housewife...
I found out tips about 'Outliers' in the newspaper yesterday;this book was translated into Japanese by 勝間和代（a businesswoman and and author of best selling books) and published recently and the title of the book is『天才！－－成功する人の法則』.
When I first read this book, I was curious to know what the tile of the book would be when published because 'Outliers' is difficult to translate. As you know, naming of the book is very important and '天才！' is very catchy, I think. But I'm wondering if'天才’covers the whole content.

As for the interview of Malcolm Gladwell, I could catch only some part of the interview as well, but I'm a big fun of Anderson Cooper, so I'm satisfied with listening to the interview,haha...
