Hi team,

Thanks for all your comments. My back is a lot better now, so I don't think I will have any problem flying back to the UK on Sunday. My cold, on the other hand, has got worse, but it is just a cold, so I'm not too worried about that.

The weather has been lovely these last few days, but I have just been working all week trying to get ready for my trip back home. I hope you have all been having more fun than I have! (I had a look at the pictures I took in Makomanai Park last weekend the other day, and some of them are really nice. I'll post them on my Flickr page when I get back.)

I'm not exactly sure what my schedule is going to be while I'm back in the UK, but I will check the blog and and write some comments if I have a chance. I'm coming back on November 5th, so I will do a new entry shortly after that. In the meantime, please feel free to just keep chatting!

Speak to you soon,

David

PS Thanks Yoshi. Someone else mentioned that before, but I forgot to ask ALC to change it.
PPS Hi Appoh. Nice to have you back with us. Are you in the US now?

Comments

Hi David,

Glad to know your back ache was not as serious as I thought. Bon Voyage!

Hi Kazu and everyone,

Poor Kazu but your egg story was so much fun and it reminded me of another story. Can I share that with you and everyone? If you are having dinner, please skip this.

We used to bring small part of No.2 (stool) to school for getting one checked, didn’t we? There was a man who always had difficulty to take fresh one timely to hand in to his office. One day, some good idea came up to him. When he happened to have very good one, he kept some in the freezer for future use. The day came and he put the frozen one in the microwave oven and pushed the start button. Oh, no!
It exploded like Kazu’s boiled egg. I guessed he had taken a lot of time to clear up the oven.

tsuneko

It's me again.

to clear up the oven >>> to CLEAN up the oven

Hi tsuneko and everyone,

Thank you for your funny story.
I'm not sure whether we can share the story or not on here also I don't want to occupy that story here so long, though.
But your co-worker's story made me laugh.
Thank you Tuneko.

Hi David,

Glad to hear your back pain gets better.
Actually,I was in the UK and Wales last year in October , and I miss even terribly chilly weather in Wales. I am sure you know about the weather in the UK, but please take care of yourself not to make your cold worse.(It is just a cold, but....)
Anyway, I hope you have a great time in the UK.

Anne

Hi team,

David - Glad to hear your back is better now. I hope your cold gets better soon!

Kazu - Thanks for sharing your funny story, but never ever put an egg in a microwave. It will explode. I've heard before that someone warmed up 中華丼 in a microwave, and there was a quail(uzura) egg in it, of course. When the person put the egg in his mouth, it exploded! So he got burned in his mouth. Didn't you get burned your face? I hope you didn't. Anyway, be careful when you warm up some food in a microwave.

2位 イカの天ぷら
3位 たらこ
4位 レバー
5位 ウインナー

Tsuneko - I hope he has another idea for it now! lol

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Tomo

Hi David,
I'm glad to hear that your back is getter now. As Anne said, the weather in Wales must be chilly at this time in October. Maybe it's like the one in Hokkaido.
It's also very dry in the airplane. Please take good care of yourself. Gets well soon!

Hope you have a wonderful time!
I'm looking forward to the pictures in Makomanai Park.

Bye for now,

Maki

Hi Nao and everyone,

I was surprised to know October was the busiest month for you at work, in the middle of such tough tasks, you wrote a lot of entries. Big claps!

I loved Disney very much but I’ve never been to Disneyland (What a shame!).
I am often said that you are unusual Japanese. When I was a small girl, I read a collection of Disney stories almost every day and my favorite was the first book of the series, called “Pollyanna”. The second favorite was the story of 101 dogs. I used to play rolls with my sister. I’d love to go there some day.

Hi Tomo,

Thanks for good and useful information!

tsuneko

It's me again.

I am said that you are > I am said that I AM

Hi David,
Unfortunately, yes. I'm in the US now. It's been almost one month since I came here.
I'm dying to get back to my hometown but I have to work here for at least two years.

Hi team,
Have a good weekend !

Appoh

Hi Nao and tsuneko,
I also loved Disney when I was a kid. I don't know why, but my parents gave me a series of Disney story books, so that I read them a lot. Also I watched a Disney TV programme which was aired at that time. So I'd been thinking to go to Disneyland in LA since I was in elementary school. That led to my interest in English as well, I guess. I didn't imagine that we would have one of Disneylands in Japan 30 years back! Anyway, I've been to Tokyo Disneyland only twice and I haven't been to Tokyo Disney Sea yet. Hope to visit there some time soon!;-)

It was a lovely day here. Everyone, have a good weekend!

Maki

Hi Tomo,

Thank you for your kindness words for me.
Luckily,I didn't get burn.
From now I'm going to be careful of it.
I didn't know about what you said.
Thank you for your information about ingredient easy to exploding.

bye for now.

Hi Maki and everyone,

You said you had been "only twice" but for me "as many as twice"(I'd like to go there at least once someday). Has your childhood dream already come true? If so, was there any difference between the original one in LA and Tokyo Disneyland? I've never been to USA.

See you soon!

tsuneko

It's me again, sorry.

Maki, you wrote "I HAD been thinking to go.....", so your dream was already realized. Yay!

Hi tsuneko,
Yes, I've been there maybe fifth times, but I haven't visited there for about 10 years. The original one is smaller than Tokyo Disneyland. I prefer the original one, because the atmosphere is very different for me. Almost all casts are forigners, so I really feel like I'm in a wonderland. One interesting difference I want to share with you is about one of attractions; Splash Mountion. It has a climactic steep drop, you know. That in LA is steeper than in Tokyo, so you can get a bigger splash in LA.;-) I also hear that attractions in both of them have the same name, but the Tokyo version is sometimes different from Disneyland version.

Talk to you later,

Maki

Thanks Maki,

Tokyo Disneyland is bigger than the one in LA, wow!
Splash Mountain sounds a lot fun and I know I will like it because I liked roller coaster, 天竜下り and 保津川下り.

Let's have a dream of Splash Mountain. Good night!

tsuneko

Hi David and everyone

I had a terrible week. As I mentioned last comment, I was not feeling well and I took a day off due to a fever. I thought it was ok when my fever went down, but it was not the end. Eventually, I caught a cold and had a headache. This time of year (changing seasons), I always catch a cold, so I just took some medicines, but it did not work. I felt as if my head were splitting. I did not feel like doing anything, so I did not check the blog these last few days. Finally, the medicines worked, so I managed to get rid of my headache.

Hi Nao
Finally I read your last three stories. Your “locked out” story was scared me. Anyway it was a relief that no harm was done. Speaking of Disney Resort, I like there too, but I do not remember the last time I have been there though. The Winnie-the-Pooh attraction is one of my favourites too. Hope you have a great time in Disney Resort.

Hi Anne, Tomo and Nao

Thank you for your comments about my trip. I really enjoyed myself in there. It’s really nice to get away!!
Tomo, have you ever tried scuba diving? I have never tried, so I’d love to try it someday.
Nao, maybe my explanation was not enough. I did not mean that Philippines were better than Okinawa. I can not compare them. Both of them are good, I suppose. The only thing I can say is that getting a massage in Philippine is cheaper than in Japan.

Oops! It is already past midnight. I have to go to bed.
Good night everyone!!!

Hi amo and everyone,

I often had terrible headaches every time the season or air pressure or weather changes during the period from in my early twenties until in my late forties. No painkillers worked! As for cold, I was given a unique advice; when you have caught a cold and have fever (if it’s not so high), you may go to work, however, when fever just goes down and cold seems to be over, you must take a day off and rest enough at home, and you could improve your body condition and will not get a cold repeatedly. Yet, when I have fever, I don’t feel like working. Anyway, you’re fine now. Good!

Hi David

I'm glad to hear that your back is a lot better.I'm looking forward to the pictures taken in Makomanai Park!Speak to you soon:)

Hi tsuneko

You also loved Diseny.Sounds good. You read books of Disney, didn't you?Are the books good?To tell the truth,I haven't read the books.I only watched movies of Disney.I like 'Beauty and Beast' the best, and I like '101 dogs' as my favorite animal is dogs.but I don't know 'Pollyanna'.What is it called in Japanese? Please tell me.

Hi Maki

You also read Disney story books like tsuneko.I haven't read them, but I would give my kid them if I had a kid.I rememberd that my parents gave me 'Nihonmukashibanashi'.I also loved it.You'd been thinking to go to Disneyland in La since you were in elementary school! That's amazing.I didn't know Disneyland in LA when I was in elementary school.Anyway I recommend Disenysea's night! It's fantastic!

Hi amo

Thank you for reading my entry. You also like 'The Winnie-the-Pooh' attraction. We are the same.Of course I like 'Winnie-the- Pooh',but I like also 'Eyo'.He is very cute.As soon as I will arrive at Disney,I will ride it.I can't wait it.
By the way, my locked out story was scared.I have locked up securely since then.

Nao

Hi tsuneko,

I also love roller coasters! Actually I'm not sure that Splash Montain is one of them or not. Anyway, it's FUN!

Hi amo,
It's so nice to know that you've got rid of your headache. Please take care, as it's getting chilly these days.

Hi Nao,
Hope to go to Disney Sea some time soon!;-)

Bye for now,

Maki

Hi Nao and everyone,

Yes, Disney books were so good that I didn't get sick and tired at all of reading almost every day. I also brought all of them to a book corner in my class for classmates to read. All of the books became almost torn or "boroboro", yet I wanted to keep them for ever. I was very sad when I found them nowhere at home, because my father had given them to his friend's small daughters. I sometimes looked for a new one but I haven't found it yet. "Pollyanna" was special among them. The others were full of beautiful cartoons by Disney but in "Pollyanna" were real actors and actresses. Pollyanna's parents passed away and she was taken care of by her aunt who was quite snobbish and strict. Pollyanna was always positive enough to change her aunt and difficult people who couldn't live smoothly with other people little by little. Japanese title was the same as the English one; "Porianna" (sorry, I don't know why but I can't type Katakana now).

Hi Maki,

Don't worry, I had got it. Every time I re-read my own comment after posting, I find some mistakes.
Good night!

tsuneko

Sorry, it's me again.

I've found new series but that didn't include "Pollyanna".

Hi Tsuneko

Thank you for your advice. I hardly take a day off even I have a fever or a headache, if I can get up I will go to work. Usually a fever goes down while I work. I see what you mean I do not feel like working when I have a fever, either.

Hi Nao

You like Eyo? I think Piglet is cute, too. They are all cute!! I am not a kind of person who buys stuffed animals, but I bought a stuffed Classic Pooh once.

Hi Maki

Thank you for your warm comment.
By the way, I am not familiar with Disneyland in the US. You have been there five times, right? Have you ever been to Disney World in Florida? If you have, which is better? I’d love to go to both of them someday.

bye for now

Hi tuneko

Thank you for telling me.I was net surfing to check 'Pollyanna'.I found the wikipedia of Pollyanna.Pollyanna was also a TV program in Japan.Do you know 'Meisakugekijyo'?Pollyanna was one of Meisakugekijyo's programs.I loved Meisakujekijyo programs,so I'm interested in Pollyanna.I think she is a wise and attractive girl.

Hi amo

I didn't know the word of stuffed animal. It means 'Nuigurumi',dosen't it?I learned it from your comment.

Nao

Hi David and everyone,

David, how's your cold? Did you get back home OK? I hope you are feeling better now.
My middle son is in bed with a cold today. I think he caught your cold!(Just joking.) Actually, the new flu is going around my sons' schools, and some of the classes are closed at the moment. I thought my son caught the flu, but his fever is not so high, so I'm seeing if the medicine he took in the morning will work or not.(He is asleep now.) If it works, it's not the flu, I guess. If it doesn't work, I'll take him to see a doctor.

Hi amo,
No, I've never tried scuba diving. I just want to try it someday in the future;-)

Take care of yourselves, everyone!

Tomo

Hi Tomo

I'm sorry to hear that your son caught a cold, and I hope he dosen't catch a new flu.The new flu is also going around my company. We should take care.

Nao

Hi Nao,
Thanks for your message. Fortunately, the medicine worked, and his fever went down to around 37.5 degrees, so I don't think he has the flu. What a relief!
By the way, is the new flu going around your office too? Take care of yourself!

Hi David and everyone,

David, how is the weather in the UK?
Was your lower back OK while you flied to the UK?
Hope your cold gets better now.
Actually I had lower back pain on Saturday night, so I went to a bone-setter yesterday and today. It's difficult to change my body posture, so I have to move very slowly and carefully.
I sometimes suffer from lower back pain even though I've been doing exercise to prevent it.

Hi Nao and everyone,
I like Disney Land, too! Actually I went there this March, and if I have a chance, I want to Disney Sea sometime soon!

Hi Tomo,
Good to know that your son's fever went down. As you and Nao said, New flu has been going around. I'm going to have a vaccine injection against flu but not against new flu tomorrow.
As you know, the vaccine against new flu is in short supply, and I'm wondering how long adults have to wait to be vaccinated against new flu.

Hi everyone,
I'm not sure you are interested in Halloween or not, but I found an interesting website ; it is a site to let children know the safest thing to do concerning Halloween. If you are interested in it, change the [xxxx ] to [http://] , and then click the address.
You can enjoy the game.

Bye for now,

Anne

Hi David and everyone,

How're you doing? It's a nice weather this morning.

Nao- I only know some old works from “Meisaku-Gekijou” by Calpis or House such as “Dororo (my favorite)”, “Heidi” (my hubby’s favorite), “Dog of Flanders” and “Mumin”(my sis’s favorite). Also, I remember “Nippon-Mukashi-Banashi”(my mom’s favorite) narrated by a actress, Ichihara Etsuko and a actor, Tokita Fujio very well that was fantastic. Thank you for reminding me of such nostalgic works for me.

Tomo- I didn’t realize new flu is really going around many places already even though I watch news of it. When Kobe area caught on new flu for the first time, people here were more cautious about it, but it seems we slightly relax our attention now. We need to take care of ourselves since its new vaccine is lacking. I really hope those who need to be given top priority like hospital people, patients under treatments, mothers-to-be and some others, get it as soon as possible.

Anne-Thank you for sharing that game with us! I played it immediately. That skull laughed at me twice. Visiting and communicating with other people must be fun for kids but sadly it can be dangerous these days. I’d like to use this game for my probable kid students. Halloween is quite similar to our “Obon”, isn’t it? BTW, I am also suffering from lower back pain now after coming back from Arima-Onsen, but this is not the first time. We have been friends since I was 15 years old. Hope we get well soon!

tsuneko

Sorry, it's me again.

a actress and a actor>>> AN actress and AN actor

Hi Tomo

I'm glad to hear that. What a relief! As I said, the new flu is going around.Today my boss is absent! His desk is in front of mine...I hope he dosen't have the flu.

Hi Anne

You went to Disenyland this March!Sounds great!I haven't been there in spring,so I want to go there in spring someday.

Hi tsuneko

'Nippon-Mukashi-Banashi' is nostalgic.I'm sorry that I can't watch the program onTV now.I also loved this narration.Their voices were atrractive for me.By the way,I only know 'Meisaku-Gekijyo'by House.I didn't remember 'Meisaku-gekijyo' by Calpis.

Nao

Hi Anne, Tsuneko, Nao, and everyone,

Thanks for your messages. I'm happy to report that my son is a lot better now. He still has a bad cough and is taking a day off school today too, but his temperature is back to normal:)
As for flu vaccine, I don't usually take a flu shot every year, but we(my family) are going to do it this year. As you may know, my oldest son is taking entrance exams in January and February, so I don't want him to catch the flu this winter. I know it's not perfect prevention, but it's better than doing nothing, isn't it? I don't know when we can get a swine flu shot, though. I really hope the swine flu blows over soon!
By the way, I also played the game Anne mentioned. I was trying to be a 'good girl' on the game(笑), so I didn't see the skull. Anyway, it was a lot of fun, and I learned some expressions from the game. Thanks Anne;-)

Nao, I couldn't write yesterday, but I love Disney resort, too. I haven't been to Disney Sea, yet, but I have been to Disney Land many times. Disney land around Christmas time was fantastic! My sister and my nieces also like Disney resort, but they say that they prefer Disney Sea, and they go there almost every year. I think my daughter is grown up enough to enjoy some rides in Disney resort, so I'm looking forward to going there sometime soon!

Speak to you soon,

Tomo

PS Anne, Tsuneko, I hope you two feel better soon. Take care!

Hi Tomo

You have been to Disneyland many times, haven't you? That's great!
Disneyland makes me happy,so I love it.
Disnyesea makes me romantic,so I also love it.
Both of them are fantastic for me.
I'm going there around Christmas time.I'm looking forward to Disney's Christmas as I read your story:)

Nao

Hi team,

I had my PhD interview in Leeds yesterday, and I came back to North Wales last night. The examiners accepted my research, but they want me to make some changes to the way I have written it up. This means I have to do a couple more weeks' work on it after I get back to Japan, but if all goes well, it will be finished by Christmas.

The weather in the UK at the moment is unseasonably warm. Actually, I think I came back at just the right time. The leaves are changing, and the countryside looks beautiful. My body clock is still a bit off, and I woke up really early this morning, so I went for a long walk after breakfast. It was wonderful!

Today, I'm going to Chester to do a bit of shopping, and then I'm going to catch up with an old friend tonight.

Hope you are all well, and speak to you soon.

Hi David,

Nice to hear from you! You are back to the UK for your PhD interview, are you? I was wondering why you were going back home at this time. I'm glad to hear that the examiners accepted your research. It means that you'll be 'Dr. David Barker' soon, doesn't it? Congratulations!

It sounds like you got over your bad cold and enjoying the lovely autumn weather there. Have a great time with your friend tonight!

Speak to you soon,

Tomo

Hi David and everyone,

David- Good news! You are fine and your PhD interview went very well. Congratulations from me too! Have lots of fun with your family and friends!

Nao- Calpis theatre might had been finished when you were born(笑).

Tomo- Please listen to the skull’s voice once, please(笑).

tsuneko

Hi David

Glad to know that your interview seemed to go well, even you need to work with it after you get back to Japan.
It is good for you that you have nice weather in the UK. Have a great time with your old friends.

bye now

Hi David and everyone,

David, glad to hear from you!
It's a good news that your PHD went well!
Hope you have a great time with your family and friends. Enjoy yourself!

Hi tsuneko and Tomo,
Glad to hear that both of you enjoyed the game.
I agree with tsuneko's suggestion, Tomo. Actually, I tried to be a "good girl" same as Tomo, so I didn't see the skull. After trying once, I wanted to see the skull, so I did it again, and I enjoyed listening to the skull's voice, haha!!

Again , concerning Halloween, can I share some jokes which I found on the website with you?

I'll tell you answers on Friday.
1. What do vampire sailors call their ships?
2. Why was the witch thrown out of school?
3. Where does Dracula keep his money?
4. What's it like to kissed by a vampire?

Speak to you soon,

Anne

少し訂正;

to kissed by a vampire?→to be kissed by a vampire?

Anne

Hi David,
Glad to hear that your PhD interview went well! Even though you have to work on it a bit more, you will reach the goal soon.;-) Have a wonderful time with your family and friends!

Hi amo,
Unfortunately I haven't been to Florida yet.

Hi Anne,
Thanks for sharing the jokes! I will try to think of them tomorrow.

Good night,

Maki

Hi Anne

I am not Christian, but I like to see Halloween goods (especially sweets). A few years ago, I went to Disneyland during that time, and I bought a tumbler. The characters of “The nightmare before Christmas” were on it. Do you know a movie of it directed by Tim Burton? I like his work. His drawings are kind of cute even a little bit spooky though. By the way, I have not checked the website that you mentioned yet. I don’t think I can watch it during weekdays, so I will watch it this weekend. Tsuneko and Tomo enjoyed the game, so I want to try it too. I was about to post the comment, and I found your latest comment. I just read your quizzes, and I can not come up with any answers. Give me some time to think it over.

Good night and sweet dreams

Hi Tsuneko, Anne, and everyone,
I just did! I thought the voice sounded a bit like ‘ドクロベエさま’ . Have you heard of this name? It was one of the characters in the TV cartoon‘ヤッターマン’. I loved this program when I was a child:)

Anne, I tried the quiz, but I have no idea.., so I give up. I'm looking forward to the answers! I can't wait! 早く答えが知りたいです~

Amo, it was a fun game. It's up to you to be a good girl or a bad girl;-)

I'm posting this from my cell phone again..

Good night, everyone.

Tomo

Hi David,
I'm glad to hear that your phD interview went well. I hope you have a wonderful time with your family and friends.

Hi everyone,
I love Disney resort, too. Last year, I went to Disney Land and Sea with my sister and her sons for 3 days. We stayed at the Disney Land Hotel. The season we went there was in Halloween. Have you been there in that season? Halloween decorations in Disney Land was so cute! Most of restaurants in there had special menu of Halloween, and most of shops in there had various Halloween goods. Actually, this summer, I went there and stayed at Disney Land Hotel with my sister and her sons again. Last year, we had breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel, but this year, we ordered room service for breakfast. Fresh fruit juices, breads, pancakes, eggs, potatos, sausages, and coffees......, it was delicious! To tell the truth, I prefer Hotel Miracosta, but in that hotel, all of us can't stay in one room, so we chose Disney Land Hotel. Of course, Dosney Land Hotel was very nice, so I got satisfaction.

By the way, autumn is the season for eat, isn't it? The other day, my grandmother made fig jam. My mother friend has farm of fig tree. Every year, we can buy unsalable figs at cheap prices from her. These figs lose shape or are overripe, but their tastes are good. This year, we got lots of them, so my grandmother made fig jam. When she makes fruit jam, she uses only honey, not sugar. She was boiling down it for 5 hours! The taste of the jam is good. My family eat yogurt with the jam every morning.

Hi Anne,
The jokes you wrote are difficult for me, but I will try to think of them.

Bye for now,

Amica

Hi team,

I don't know much about Halloween but my apartment is going to have Halloween Party tomorrow. Do I need to buy candy ? The management team will be in costumes for a fun night, I heard. Residents will not be required to wear costumes but we are strongly recommended. I wonder if I choose a pumkin hat.
In addition, I saw trees decorated for Christmas in front of my apartment on my way home tonight. Is it a little bit early ? I'm sure that season is coming soon right after Halloween.
By for now.

Appoh

Hi Appoh,
It sounds fun to attend the Halloween Party! Maybe you should buy some candies and a pumpkin hat is also nice, though wearing a Halloween costume sounds much more fun.;-)
Anyway, enjoy the party! I'm looking forward to hearing about it.
You can see Christmas decorations already!? Wow!
The season is just around the corner!

Talk to you soon,

Maki

Hi Appoh,
Did you prepare candies for kids?
I guess you are enjoying the Halloween party now.
You've already seen trees decorated for Christmas ? Winter is coming!

Hi amo,
Yes, I know the movie "The nightmare before Christmas". As you said, his works have a taste of "spooky". I like his works.

Hi Amica,
You soaked in the Halloween mood at Disney resort last year, right? That's sounds nice. I'd love to enjoy the mood in there sometime if I have a chance.
By the way, your grandmother sounds very good at cooking. "5 hours"! I bought figs a few times at a supermarket this fall.

Hi Tomo,
Yes, his voice sounds like "ドクロベエさま”. You saw this program when you were a child, didn't you? Ha
~^^;) I saw the program when my sons were children!!

PS .I'll answer Halloween quizzes on Sunday .
Enjoy one more quiz.
* What do mummies listen to at parties?

Bye for now,

Anne

Hi Anne,
I tried the quize, but nothing comes up to mind.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to your answer on Sunday.;-)

Good night,

Maki

Hi David and everyone,
How's your weekend? It's fine and not so cold around here.
By the way, have a look at today's google logo! Today is....,yes! The design is simple, but nice^^)

Anne

Hi Anne and everyone,

I just had a look at the logo! Yes, it's nice;-)
The weather is fine here as well, and I'm going to my son's school to see his class today.

Have a great weekend!

Tomo

Hi! It's me again.
What a surprise! If you visit to "Google logo", keep clicking to the last stage. I love today's logo^^

> Maki,
It sounds like a kind of " 頭の体操”, doesn't it?
Actually, I would not be able to figure out without answers either.
Actually there are 10 questions.

Anne

Hi again Anne,
I just did! That's really nice!! さすが Halloween ですね♪

Hi David and everyone,

I had a guest the other day from Singapre and she read my last comment "Good news! Your PhD interview went very well." She laughted a lot saying that it sounded like I was an examiner and saying "You passed!". Sorry for that. I didn't mean that at all. I should have written "I'm glad to hear good news from you that your Phd interview went very well." Mine was too short!

Hi Anne and everyone,

Those quizes are very difficult but I tried as follows.

1. What do vampire sailors call their ships? (Tom.)
2. Why was the witch thrown out of school? (She did fly on broomsticks.)
3. Where does Dracula keep his money? (In his bank.)
4. What's it like to be kissed by a vampire? (?)
5. What do mummies listen to at parties? (Lullaby.)

何のトンチもないので、全滅かな(笑)?!
I'm also looking forward to your answer!

Tomo- I didn't know "ドクロべえさま" at all.

tsuneko

Hi Anne and Tomo,
I checked today's Google logo. Yes, it's so nice, and I love it! "Trick-or-treat", somebody give me sweets!(笑)

Hi Anne

I finally did the game that you mentioned, it was fun!! Actually, I am a good girl and I did not meet the skull but I wanted to meet him so I did it again. Thank you, I really enjoyed it. By the way, I tried to solve your quizzes, but it was really difficult for me. Only I came up with is No.3 (Where does Dracula keep his money?). My answer is “His account”, because he is a count!! How is that?
I checked Google logo today. It was nice!!!

Hi Appoh

How is your new life in the US? It’s been almost one month since you left Japan, so you’ve already settled down there, I suppose. By the way, how was the Halloween party? Did you prepare some treats for kids? I was wondering whether you were in some costume or not. If you do not mind and have time, please tell us about the party?

Hi everyone

How’s your weekend? I wake up around 11 am this morning, due to lack of sleep. I spent this afternoon watching two movies on TV. First, I watched “Hairspray (2007)”. It was interesting and I really liked it. The songs were good too. I haven’t watched original version of it directed by John Waters yet. I want to watch it too, and want to compare them, which is better. After that I watched “The talented Mr. Ripley” but I missed the first 15 minutes, even though I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was a remake of “Plein Soleil (Purple Noon)”, but it was not. Both of them were just based on the same novel. I watched “Plein Soleil” when I was a child (it was a long time ago), so I only remember some parts of it, but remember the ending clearly.

Speak to you soon

Hi Anne & Everyone,
I had a look at the logo. It's really nice! Thanks for letting us know it;-)

It was cold here today, and they had snow in some areas in Hokkaido! Anyway, winter has finally come...brrr. Keep you warm.;-)

Have a lovely Sunday!

Maki

By the way, I tried to solve your quizzes, but it was really difficult for me. Only I came up with is No.4 (Where does Dracula keep his money?). My answer is “His account”, because he is a count!! sorry, I posted the same comment twice.
I thought my comment was blocked first time, so I posted again.
Please ignore the second one.

Hi amo, Anne and everyone,

Yes, he is a count. Your answer must be a correct one. I came up with only "Dracula bank"(手がそっと伸びてさっと戻る). Anne, ♪もぉ~いぃ~かぁい~♪

Hi amo,
My new life in the US ? So far so good, hopefully.
Actually, I didn't get anything for kids. I only wore a shirt printed 「牛タン 仙台の味」 on. Why so simple ?
You know what ? I'm a middle-aged man. I didn't feel like painting my face green. Seeing kids excited in the party brought back my memories with my family.
I hear young people chatting loudly near my apartment. Happy Halloween is here now.

Anne- it's me again. I'm working out from now, so I can wait for your answer. Take your time. See you tonight or tomorrow!

Hi Appoh,
You wore the T-shirt printed" 牛タン、仙台の味”? That's sounds very nice! From you story, I felt that Halloween had been very close to people in the US.
Here in Japan, according to a newspaper, Halloween -related market will increase drastically 60 % from last year. I can't believe this rising enthusiasm on the Halloween among Japanese as a middle-aged woman.
Anyway, judging from your blog, I'm glad to know your life in the US has been settling down little by little.
If you don't mind, please tell us about the life there when you have time. Take care!

Hi David and everyone,

Thank you for waiting, tsuneko.
tusneko, amo, you did a good guess!
Here are answers for the quizzes.

1. What do vampire sailors call their ships?
Ans. -----Blood Vessels
2. Why was the witch thrown out of school?
Ans.------She couldn't learn to spell.
(The word” spell" has two meanings;'魔
           法、つづる[スペル])
3. Where does Dracula keep his money?
  Ans. -----In a blood bank

4. What's it like to be kissed by a vampire?
Ans.------It's a pain in the neck!

5. What do mummies listen to at parties?
Ans.-----Wrap music (What image do yo have
from the word" mummyミイラ”?)

I hope you enjoyed them.

PS. amo, Songs in the "Hairsplay" are very nice, aren't they?

Bye for now,

Anne

Hi team,

Anne, thanks for the answers! I love the number 4! “What's it like to be kissed by a vampire? -It's a pain in the neck!” That makes sense!!

Tsuneko, did you have a great time with your friend from Singapore? I didn't notice that your comment sounded like you were an examiner. こういう微妙なニュアンスって難しいですね~。

Amica, did you have some sweets yesterday? If you had come to my house and said “Trick or treat!” yesterday, I would have given you some cake;-)

Amo, glad to hear that you are having a nice relaxing weekend. As for Anne's quiz, I thought your answer to number 4 was right. I didn't know the word 'count' has a meaning of 伯爵!

Maki, did it snow in some parts of Hokkaido already?? It sounds like the long winter has started in Hokkaido. Keep you warm and be careful not to catch a cold!

Appoh, there is a saying, "When you are in Rome, do as the Romans do", you know, so you might feel like painting your face green next year(笑) I think a sexy vampire costume looks good on you;-)

See you all soon,

Tomo

I thought your answer to number 4 was right. → I thought your answer to number 3 was right.

Hi Anne

Thank you for your interesting quizzes. I really enjoyed them, and I liked No.4 the best.
If I see the answers, it’s easy to figure out, but when I tried to solve them nothing to come up with. I need to think things more flexibly.

Hi Appoh

Thank you for telling us how the Halloween party went. You may want to put on some costume next year. I bet that a sexy vampire costume really suits you as Tomo said.

Hi Maki

Some parts of Hokkaido had already snow!! You may laugh at me, but in Tokyo, it is already winter for me.

Hi Tomo and Tsuneko

Speaking of Anne’s quizzes, when I read her quizzes, nothing came up with but the word “count”. Anyway, it was wrong, but I am glad that both of you seemed to like my answer. Tomo, you did not know the word “count” has a meaning of 伯爵? Have you ever watched a TV program called “Sesame Street”? There is a character called “Count Von Count”. If you do not know him, please google him. He is a kind of cute.

Take care

Hi team,

I'm using my own computer in a neighbour's house tonight, so I can read all the Japanese. When I use my parents' computer, it is really slow, and all the Japanese just appears as blocks.

I went to Liverpool this weekend to meet up with two of my best friends from university. We stayed in a rental apartment last night, and then I came home today. It was really nice to see them again. I'm actually going back to Liverpool again on Tuesday to meet another friend who couldn't make it this weekend, and then I'm flying back to Japan on Wednesday.

The weather here has been fantastic for most of my trip, but now it feels like winter has arrived, so I think it's a good time for me to leave! Anyway, I'll be back in Japan on Thursday, so I'll do another entry on Friday.

Hi David and everyone,

Amo - Count Von Count! I remember him! I used to watch that program when my son was small, but I had forgotten him until I read your comment. My favorite characters from that show were Elmo and Big Bird;-)

David - Glad to hear that you had a lovely time with your best friends. Have a lot of fun with your friend on Tuesday and enjoy the rest of your stay!

Speak to you soon,

Tomo

PS David, I'm looking forward to your new entry:)

Hi Davod and everyone,

>David, glad to hear that you had a great time with your best friends. Catching up with your best friends is really nice, isn't it?
Please be careful not to have the bad experience at Heathrow again!
I'm looking forward to your new entry.

>amo, I didn't know about "Count Von Count", so I googled him, and watched some videos.
Actually, your answer seems to be nicer.

Bye for now,

Anne

It's me again,
Oh my god,
Sorry,David, Of course you are "David", not" Davod"!

Anne

Hi David

Sounds good!I'm glad to hear that you have a great time in your country.I'm looking forward to your new entry.
Speak to you soon!

Hi Amica

You also like Diseny! You stayed at the Disney Land Hotel, didn't you?I'm jealous of you.I want to stay there someday.Of course I also want to stay at the Hotel Miracosta.I heared that the Hotel Miracosta has a great view!
As you said, autumn is the season for eating.I eat too much food・・・now I often eat persimmons.Autumn is the best season for persimmons. I like autumn the best.

Hi amo

I love 'Hairspray'.I watched it at the theater. It was very nice.As you said, the songs were good, and the story was also good.It is a funny and interesting movie for me.I didn't know the original version.I want to watch it,too.

Nao

I am happy for you that you had a great time with your best friends. Catching up your old friends is really nice like Anne said. Speaking of best friends, when I go back to Okinawa, I always meet up with my best friend from junior high school. We like to talk about this and that at the seaside all night long. It is so nice that talking over at the seaside under the night sky.
Enjoy your rest of stay in the UK. Hope you get back to Japan in one piece

Hi Tomo and Anne

I did not watch “Sesame Street” regularly, but I have watched it several times and saw him counting things. It made me laugh because he was a count and he liked counting. To be honest with you, I could not remember his name so I cheated. I had checked his name on the Internet before I posted my comment.

Hi Nao

Now I remember that you mentioned about “Hairspray” before. Didn’t you also tell us about “High School Musical”, do you? I have not watched it yet, but it seems good too, so I want to watch it. The original version of “Hairspray” was not a musical movie but a comedy, so I am not sure whether you can listen to the songs in it or not.

bye for now

David- Glad to know you had a great time in UK.

Anne- Thank you for the answers. Such ideas never crossed my mind but it was a lot fun.

Everyone- Winter has come, in deed. I guess I caught a cold while I was walking around with my cousin whole day.

See you!

tsuneko

Hi David and everyone,
It's chilly these couple of days around here.
How about your area?
I'm ready for a cold winter;"Kotatsu"!!
It's really nice to sit warm under the kotatsu, isn't it?

Hi tusneko,
Sleep tight, and I hope you'll get better soon.

Speak to you soon,

Anne

Hi amo

I didn't remember telling about 'Hairspray' and 'High School Musical'.I'm sorry..
The original version of “Hairspray” was a comedy,wasn't it?I didn't know,but I also like a comedy,so I want to watch it.
Thank you for telling me.

Hi tsuneko

Are you better now?I hope you will get better.
As you said, winter comes! It's much colder than last month in Osaka.Take care!

Hi Anne

You are ready for kotatsu, aren' t you?Me,too!I was ready for kotatsu yesterday. It's so nice!I like kotatsu, but I can't move because of kotatsu.

Hi everyone

What were you doing last weekend?I went shoppping with my British friend. She bought a lot of goods because of cheap prices in Japan.(She told me that prices in England aren't low.)I just went window-shopping yesterday, but I enjoyed it.

Nao

Hi Nao

I am terribly sorry about my mistake. When I read your previous comment, I just remembered someone talking about “High school musical” and for some reason, I thought it was you. I mixed up someone’s comment with yours. Anyway, I am so sorry to confuse you.

Hi everyone

It is getting colder and colder day by day. It feels like winter has come. Meaning, the toughest time of the year has come for me. I am easy to catch a cold and once I’ve got, I cannot get rid of it.
Tsuneko, take good care of yourself. I hope you will feel better soon.

Good night and sweet dreams.

Hi amo

No problem:)As you said,it's colder and colder.Today I didn't want to go out in the morning because it was cold.

Nao

Hi everyone,
It's getting colder every day.
Last week, I went to watch the movie "THIS IS IT". As you know, this movie is a documentary of Michael Jackson's concert rehearsal. He was a great singer, right? All the dancers were chosen by audition. They said, "I couldn't keep to dance without Michael. You are my everything. It is the most pleasure of my life to appear on the stage with you." All the people who were involved in the concert respected him. I was impressed by them. I recommend watching this movie.

Next month, I have a Christmas concert with my friends. I'm going to sing Christmas carols. All of their songs are very beautiful, aren't they? I love them.

Hi tsuneko,
Are you OK? I hope you will get better.

The flu is going around. Some of my students caught the flu. Take care not to catch it, everyone!

Amica

Hi Everyone,
Did you see the Google logo today? Please have a look at it. I like it!

tsuneko, I hope you will get better soon.

Bye for now,

Maki

Hi Maki,
I did! I like it too! Actually, yesterday's Google logo was related to the same anniversary, but the design was different.

Hi Nao,
Once I sit under kotatsu, it's difficult to move as you said.

Hi Amica,
I watched the trailer of his film, and it sounds good.
By the way, are you going to have the Christmas concert? Christmas carols are very beautiful and I like them too!

Anne

Hi everyone,

Tsuneko, I hope you are feeling better today. Take care!

Maki, yes I did;-) I think it's Cookie Monster. I didn't know that it was the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street!

Good night, everyone. zzz...

Tomo

PS David, I'm looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Hi David and everyone,
I skipped posting my comments in October. I would like to catch up all of you.

By the way,I sometimes watched Sesame Street when it was aired. I came across an article about a puppeteer who has played Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch for 40 years. His name is Caroll Spinney and 75 years old. It says that a video monitor strapped to Spinney's chest lets him see outside the suit. That's interesting, isn't it.

I'm looking foward to David new entry too.

May

Hi May and everyone,

Speaking of Sesame Street.
I'm subscribing that program from video podcast.
It is useful for me.
This program is for children but I can't take it lightly.
There are lots of things that I should learn from it.
I love it also Elmo.
If you want to see it, you can find it from video podcast.
