The Job Market in Japan (Corrections)
Hi Team (capitalized to please Tomo!)
Hi Nao - Thanks for your feedback. It was a very interesting experiment for me as well.
Hi Tatsuya and Tanizawa san. Nice to have you with us.
Thanks for reading the article and sharing your ideas. I don't think it is necessarily the case that students in the west always end up doing jobs related to their degrees, but it certainly happens more in the UK than in Japan. I think one of the reasons for this is the Japanese system of making everyone in the company a "generalist." There is not much point in graduates looking for a job related to their university major if they are just going to be moved to another department of the company in three years (and then changed again five years after that!) As I mentioned before, people in the West usually specialize in something, so although they might move to a different company, it is not common for someone to change their job within the same organization.
Anyway, here are some points I noticed in this week's comments.
many people choose university course or tertiary education course depends on what they want to be later on
(many people choose ... according to what they want to be later on)
Companies can't afford to use much money and time to train new graduates to work fully as one of the staffs.
(Companies can't affort the time or money to train new graduates.)
As we talked before,
(As we discussed before, )
we were forced to waste much money
(we were forced to waste a lot of money/huge amounts of money) (('Much' is usually only used in negative sentences and questions.)
Today I found this blog first, and enjoyed reading it.
(I found this blog today.) ((You don't need 'first' because that is implied by 'found'.))
Now I'm the second grade student. So next year I will do job-hunting.
(I'm a second-year student, so next year I have to start looking for a job.) ((I'm not sure about Americans, but British people don't use the phrase 'job-hunting' very much.))
Although I don't regret about the choice I made, but ...)
(I don't regret the choice I made, but ...( ((You don't need 'although' and 'but' because they do the same job.))
students get a job unrelated their degree or major at the universities
(students get a job unrelated to their university degree or major)
“Gee~, if I graduated university I would get a good job”
(Gee, if I had graduated from university, I would have been able to get a good job.)
I don’t know about economy well enough to form any particular opinion
(I don't know enought about the economy to form any particular opinion.) ((This sounds more natural, but your version is not wrong.))
You did really well this past four weeks!
(You did really well these past four weeks!)
I'm off to Shizuoka this weekend for a big conference. I'm not actually taking part in the conference, but I'm going to be doing a display of BTB Press books in the publishers' hall. It's the biggest language teaching conference in Japan, so it will be a good chance for me to publicize the books. I won't be back in Seto until Monday night, so my next entry will probably be on Tuesday.
Have a great weekend,
David

Hi Amica,
I really hope your nephew gets rid of a high fever asap and you get relieved!
Hi Nao and David,
Congratulations! I learned a lot the way of practicing to write English naturally through your big challenge.
Hi All,
I won't comment to each person but thanks for your warm comments to me the other day. I have been trying not to sit in front of computer at the moment because of low back pain. Don't worry! I do exercise to get better. Besides, I've decided to go on a diet to help my low back.
See you soon.

Hi David and everyone,
<(capitalized to please Tomo!) ←Ha ha ha. That's sweet. Thanks David:)
I didn't know that British people don't use the phrase 'job-hunting' very much. Actually, I heard the phrase 'house hunt' when I was watching a movie set in London the other day. I may be wrong, but I thought it was a useful phrase that can be used like '○○ hunt' when you are looking for something. In the movie, a woman asked her friend, "How's the house hunt going?" You don't usually say "job-hunting", but do you say "job hunt" as in a sentence like "How's the/your job hunt going?"
Anyway, thank you for your feedback. I hope the promotion of your books goes well!
Hi Amica,

Hi Tanizawa and everyone,
(I've found his comment on the last of last entry.)
I agree with your opinion that quite many students are economically dependent on their parents in Japan. To be honest, so was I. If I had known more about the importance of both money and time, I wouldn't have taken so much time to find my goal.
On the other hand, many students have to give up carrying on studying because of parents' economic problems these days. If they are able to get scholarships easier, they could continue to study. In Singapore, a lot of students get scholarships from their government or companies whose amount are enough to cover their school lives. And then they work for those companies or government offices as bond after graduation, say for 5 or 6 years, maybe less or more. Of course, there are scholarships in Japan too, but that is not much.
One more thing I didn't like was general education curriculum(教養課程) in Japan. Does it still remain? How about other countries? I need to check it. I still remember that one of my classmates had a heart sickness so she had to observe P.E.(体育) everytime. She was so good at major subjects(専門科目)that I felt rather angry with that system. I enjoyed P.E. but I didn't admit it was necessary for all of the students except those who majored in P.E.
That's all for today.
Hi Anne,
All right! Let's go together. I want to lose 3kg at least by the end of this year.

Hi Team,
In my opinion, all public schools and universities should be free to study. That's why they are public.
I think they have to be operated by tax money only.
On the other hand, the government don't need to pour money into any private ones. That's why they are private. They can offer high quality programs if they collect a lot of tuition fees.
Then, we will have a variety of options.
Have a good weekend !

Hi David and everyone!
I found your idea about Japanese companies convincing. And also after reading Tsuneko's comment about Singapore, I again realized that every country has its own system, and felt how interesting human society is...

Hi tsuneko, Tomo, Anne, Maki,
Thanks for your warm comments. My nephew recovered, so I was really relieved.
Hi everyone,
Did you have a nice weekend? Yesterday, I went to the theater in Osaka with my friend. The play I watched was "蛮幽鬼" by the "劇団☆新感線". Do you know the theatrical company? It was amazing! After we watched it, we ate "たこ焼き" and "串カツ" with beer. (I can't drink, so I ordered oolong tea.^^;) We had a nice time in Osaka.
By for now,

Hi David
Thank you for your correction.
How was publicity for your books? Did it go well? I hope so.
Hi everyone
How did you spend three-day weekend?
I went out these three days, so I am a bit tired.
I went to my oldest sister’s place yesterday for one of her daughters’ birthday. I bought some clothes and a DVD for her on Saturday. I hadn’t seen her in almost 5 months. In a nutshell, I ended up going back to the shop for exchanging the clothes today. She was bigger than I thought.
I hope everyone would have a good weekend.
Hi Amica
I am happy to hear that your nephew is ok now.
I am sorry but I do not know about the company that you mentioned. Anyway, it seemed that you enjoyed the play. That’s nice.
catch you later

Hi Nao,

Hi Team,
How was your weekend? As I mentioned, there were some school events this weekend, so I had a busy one. On Sunday, we went to a shrine to do my daughter's shichi-go-san ceremony. The weather was not good, and it was very cold, but my daughter seemed to be very happy in a beautiful kimono. Today, my middle son and my daughter are having a day off to make up for Saturday and Sunday. My son is going to school tomorrow, but my daughter will be staying at home because her class is closed until Wednesday because of the new flu. It seems like the flu is still going around here as well. Take care of yourselves, everyone!
Tsuneko, nice to hear from you again.
<On the other hand, many students have to give up carrying on studying because of parents' economic problems these days.
I think so, too. My husband told me the other day that there are lot of parents whose child goes to a private school can't pay the tuition.
Appoh, I agree with your idea about public schools and universities. That's a good idea!
Maki, you went to a zoo in the snow? It sounds cold, but you seemed to have a lot of fun there;-)
Amo, children's growth is very fast, isn't it? I also bought a lot of clothes for my oldest son this weekend. He was shorter than me when he entered junior high school, but now he is taller than my husband!
Amica, glad to hear that your nephew is better and you had a great time in Osaka:)
Nao, you had a ‘お好み焼き’ party with your friends? That's nice! All my family members like お好み焼き, and we often make it on a hot plate and eat it with おたふくソース^^
David, how was the conference? I'm looking forward to reading your new entry!
Speak to you soon,

Hi Tomo
You had a busy weekend.Your daughter wore a kimono for shichi-go-san ceremony, didn't she? That's nice.I think your daugther looked beautiful:)I'm glad to hear that your daugther was happy on the day.

Seriously? I havent even seen the season finale and Im already crying. I cannot believe that theyre actually letting Chad and Hilarie go over what? Money? Contracts? Theyre the main characters, theyre the leading roles! Im just devastated because I am pretty sure that the show wont be the same. Leyton was what kept be watching (well, mostly) and by replacing them with new characters- well just have another OC-failure. You guys remember what happened in the 4th season of that show? After Marissas sudden death? The show lasted for another 16 episodes, before they had to let it go. Hopefully, One Tree Hill will continue for another 45years or so. But truthfully I think that the show wont be very successful after these recent news. Im just heartbroken and sad. What has happened to the movie industry? When did it became all about the money?
