Hokkaido Pictures

Hi team,

I'm happy to report that my headache has disappeared, and I think my cold is on its last legs (= it's nearly finished). I have been busy for the last few days getting ready for two presentations I'm doing this weekend. On Saturday afternoon, I'm doing a workshop for some teachers who are using one of my books at a university in Nagoya, and on Sunday, I'm doing a presentation for the Kyoto chapter of the Japan Association of Language Teachers (JALT). On Saturday night, I've been invited for dinner to the home of an ex-colleague from Nanzan, so it's going to be quite a busy weekend.

Anyway, I have uploaded some of the pictures from my Hokkaido trip. The first one was taken on that beautiful day in Tokachi Dake. If you look closely at the mountains, you can see the tracks left by people skiing or snowboarding down.

If you look at the other photos, you will get some idea of what an incredible day it was. I lived in Hokkaido for 9 years, but I have never seen the mountains looking as magical as they did that day.

I also took some pictures of my friend Aoki san's children. (Aoki san lives in Naka Shihoro, near Obihiro.) This is a picture of his daughter Rana and his son Rui. Last time I saw Rui, he was just a tiny baby, and I was amazed at how much hair he had grown. 分けてもらえたらいいのに！

I also took some pictures of Rui by himself. In the first one, he looks as though he is singing, which is pretty impressive for a one-year-old.

However, when you look at the next picture, you can see what he was really doing!

When I visited the Aokis, Rui and his father were both sick, and I think that's where I caught my cold.

Anyway, I have to get back to my preparations for the weekend. On Monday, I'll tell you about the cousin I mentioned who was a famous poet.

Glad to hear that you got well again.
Thanks for sharing photos in Hokkaido. As you said, Rui looks as though he is singing. Babies like licking something,right? Children grow amazingly,don't they? Rana became more "おねえちゃん."
The picture in Tokachidake is very beautiful and I also like the first photo in Flickr page; the one the road runs in the center.

Glad to hear you are feeling better, and your cold is on its last legs.(←I didn't know the expression "on one's last legs". It's easy to imagine the meaning, but why "last legS"? I thought it would make more sense if it was "last leg". Anyway, it's an interesting expression.)

Thanks for sharing the photos. Yes, I can see the tracks left by people skiing or snowboarding down. The mountain is really beautiful, but it looks very steep! Did you ski there, too?

Rana and Rui are lovely:) I think Rui can be a great singer. The way he is holding the microphone is very nice. lol

Thanks for sharing the photos. It's a beautiful mountain. A combination of snow's white and sky's blue is good.
Kids are very lovely! Kids grow fast. When you take their picture, they must be bigger!

The pattern for "tell" is "tell sb (about) sth." This is explained under the key word SAY/TELL in the new red book.

Hi everyone
Friday was the busiest day of this week, and it was not supposed to be like that. Usually Fridays are not so busy, so one of my section’s staff took day off. I started working at 8:45 and finished around 9:00. I only took thirty-minute lunch break, which means I was working for about 12 hours. I was as busy as a bee!! Friday was the last day of the weekdays, so that’s a relief.

No, your comment didn't sound like girl's one at all. 単に私の思い込みです。Come to think of it, I felt you had a bit unique taste when I was watching that video of your favourite female singer, Bjork.^^) By the way, new nickname came to me: Toramaru instead of Tremolo.

As for "Alice in Wonderland" in 3D, I'm interested but I can't see 3D movie any more. I learned I'd easily get motion sickness when I saw "Avatar 3D".
When I was listening to a radio program the other day, one of female novelist, Murayama Yuka who had translated "Alice~" into Japanese, was talking about Cheshire cat. She said she liked the cat's character best of all in the book.

Did you have a good weekend? I went to my father-in-law's house on Saturday to tidy up with my family, and we visited his grave with my husband's sisters. It was a bit cold and there were some snow left on the ground.
