Autumn Leaves at Oneto
Hi Team,
I'm in Aoki san's house in Nakashihoro tonight. We just went to an onsen called Marumigaoka Onsen in Otofuke. It's run by an Australian guy and his Japanese wife. I used to know them both when I lived in Sapporo, so it was lovely to see them again. Actually, I was thinking that it would be a good place to have an English seminar, because we could do the whole weekend in English.
Anyway, I'm glad to report that my ankle is a quite a bit better now. I think I will probably be able to walk normally in a couple of days. Here is what it looks like at the moment.

Since I can't climb any mountains or ride my bikes, I decided to rent a rowing boat on Kussharo this morning. I rowed across to the island, which is something I have never done before. I landed on the beach and stayed there for about 20 minutes before rowing back. I had my GPS with me, so I know that it was an 8 km round trip.
After that, I drove to Aoki san's house, but on the way, I stopped off at Oneto. As I have told you before, this is one of the most beautiful lakes I have seen anywhere in the world, and I thought you might like to see some more pictures. The "koyo" is just starting, but it already looks fantastic.
Tomorrow morning, I am going with Aoki san's family to watch Rana chan's "undo kai." I have never been to one before, so I'm looking forward to it. That should be finished by lunchtime, so I'm going to drive back to Sapporo after that.
Anyway, I hope you like the pictures.
Bye for now.

Hi David,
I laughed when I saw and read your post, because the contrast between the picture of your anlke and scenery of oneto. They don't have any relations at all. If someone see and read your post without following past posts he/she think you are a strange or eccentric guy, I suppose.
BTW, talking about running, it is David's and my topic, I think
I ran about 12km this morning. Long distance running in slow pace or rather short distance running in fast pace depend on your aim of running.
To lose your weight, the latter is more effective. However, running in slow pace takes long time. If you have enogh time to run and want to lose your weight, you should choose the latter.
I love long distance running in Sunday morning because it is a good mind changer. My jobs are stressful. It takes about one hour for me to run 12km. The time changes my mind from an official mode to a private mode. Besides, breakfast after running is soooo delicious even if it isn't gorgeous one.
See ya,

Hi David,
I followed Maki's way of watching them by slideshow. Yes, they are just beautiful and the last one made me gasp, too:P It seems Oneto has different beauty from that in summer. Thanks a lot!
Hi Green,
Wow, you were taken in the same picture of your favourite star. That's great.
Hi Nao,

The red and yellow leaves are very beautiful.

Hi tsuneko,
Thank you for your message.
I'm sorry that my explanation wasn't enough.
I meant I was taken in the same picture with many magazine reporter who were taking Koichi's pictures.

Hi David and everyone,
I'm writing this on my cell phone in the car. It's a beautiful day, and David's pictures made me want to go for a drive, so we are on the way to Kiyosato, Yamanashi now.
Thanks for sharing your pictures, David. I had a look at them before I left home. They are all lovely!(except the one of your poor ankle, of course. It's swollen and bruised. It looks hurt!) The lake and the autumn leaves are really pretty. もう紅葉が見られるなんていいな~♪ Anyway, I hope you enjoyed Rana chan's "undo kai" !
Ling, "Everything has tow sides" ← You are absolutely right!
Green, Now I understand why you sounded so happy. It was a nice and big surprise, wasn't it? ポジティブ、いいじゃないですか;-)

Hi David
How really wonderful those pictures are. You look like a pro!!
They make me very happy and make me want to go to Hokkaido to see colored leaves. I thought Hokkaido is the best season at this time of year from your photos. Thank you, as usual, for offering us such splendid photos.
Hi Tomo, ano, and Anne.
Thank you for the kind welcome comments everyone.
Hi everyone
Have a nice weekend.

Hi Gussan,
Thank you for the running tip, it's really helpful.
I'm just a beginner runner so I will run in slooow pace a few kms at most. If I push my self harder I might collapse on the ground. That's so みっともない!
I can't believe you run 12km in 1hour! Running is a good way of releasing stress.
Hi Green,
I'll make box lunches and eat them with my sons but "undokai" might be postponed because of the rain.

Hi David,
Thank you for answering my question again!! Also, thank you, Anne and Tomo for thinking about it. By the way, how was the undokai? Did you enjoy it?
Hi trmr,
I am really happy that you liked Okinawa, and you are right 3 days is not enough to enjoy Okinawa.
Hi everyone,
How was your week? I had a terrible week and it depressed me a bit :-( so I didn’t feel like doing anything. That’s why I didn’t write any comments last couple of days. Anyway, I am going to the movies tomorrow and it will cheer me up.
Good night,
amo

Hi Tomo,
How was Kiyosato? Are the leaves of trees changed autumnal colors already in Kiyosato?

Hi David,
I was surprised to see that there’s a foot on the top of those beautiful pictures, though it’s nice to know your ankle was getting better. I hope you can walk normally soon (maybe already, if so it will be cool). Thanks for sharing the pictures, Oneto’s “koyo” looks really glorious, I wish I could see it by my own eyes some day.
Hi Maki,
Did you bump into David in Sapporo? ^^ How’s the movie you watched on Saturday?
Hi amo,
How are you feeling today? Hope everything goes well this week.
Hi Tomo,
Did you have a good time driving in Kiyosato? I’m sure you did, what’s the view like?
Hi Yoko and rei,
Nice to meet you! (sorry it’s so late)
Hi everyone,
It’s a rainy day here. I hope you all have a nice day wherever you are.

Hi Fumie and Ling,
Thanks for your comments! Kiyosato is located in Yatsugatake Highlands and known as a summer resort, so it's colder than where I live, but unfortunately, the leaves haven't changed yet. It was a bit cold on Saturday, but the scenery and the ice cream we ate at a farm were lovely!
Fumie, I'm sorry to hear that some of the events of the sports day was postponed. I hope it will be sunny on Wednesday!!✹
Ling, the view was green and relaxing. We often go for a drive to Yamanashi. It has nice wine(There are lots of wineries.) and there is also a good place for night view;-)
Tomo
PS amo - I hope you are feeling better today:)

I'm sorry to hear that.
So are you going to your son's school with box lunch again?
Hi everyone,
Have you finished filling in a census?
To tell the truth, I haven't yet.

Hi Tomo,
Yamanashi is famous for wine, no wonder you go there often! Beautiful scenery+ nice wine+ lovely ice cream, that sounds perfect!
Hi Green,
We’ve done the census too. We finished filling out it in 5 minutes and handed in to the guy who was still distributing in our neighborhood.

Hi David,
I'm relieved to hear that your ankle is getting better but please go easy on it. Rowing a boat on Kussharo must be wonderful. 8km is kind of long and I'm sure if I do that my arms will have muscle ache. Oneto's "koyo" is so gorgeous! Koyo doesn't start in my area yet so I enjoy seeing koyo first time this year by your pictures. Thank you for sharing beautiful pictures. I hope sunny weather is holding until tomorrow so that you can enjoy Ranachan's "undokai". I'd like to know if there are something like undokai in the UK. If so what kind of activities are there? There are 玉入れ、大玉ころがし、綱引き、騎馬戦、障害物競走、リレー,クラス対抗リレーetc in our undokai. Undokai is such a big event in Japanese school. Please tell me about it when you have time.
Hi Tsuneko,Tomo, Ling,
Thank you all for your warm comments! I will run as further as possible to lose weight. I hope to have my son's undokai tomorrow.
Hi everyone,
Have a wonderful weekend!
