予告編 (8) ビギナー向け英単語検定
「けんてーごっこ」の検定作成画面にバグがあるらしく、最初に作成した検定を登録しようとしたら、登録がうまく行きませんでした。気を取り直して一からやり直したところ、またしても不発。登録のボタンをクリックしたあと手応えなしで、いつも来る登録しましたというメールもなし。めげます。
せっかくですので、出題予定だった単語のメモをご覧に入れます。予習しておき、満点を期してください。バグがなおったら、第８回分をおとどけします。ただ、このままでは芸がないので、多少、ひねりを加えようと思っていますので、ご期待ください。
1. 「ともかく」それを売る sell it anyhow ［例文］「We have to sell it anyhow we can. (= in any case, whatever) Cf. We don't need a new PC and we can't afford one anyhow. (= more importantly) ＊ I hate "natto" but I ate it anyhow. (=despite)
2. 「何でも」あり Anything goes. ［例文］Choose anything you like. ＊ Anything will do for lunch. （アメリカ人が「すしもどき」をホームパーティーで出して、多少なりともすしっぽいかを尋ねるとして）Is this anything like your "sushi"?
3. 「どこででも」見られる can see it anywhere ［例文］anywhere in the cabinet →どこでもいいからキャビネットに放り込んでおいてくれ。Put that anywhere in the cabinet.
4. 「いずれにしろ」有り難う thanks anyway ［例文］I've already fixed it but thanks anyway. ...thank you all the same も同じ
5. 冗談は「別として」 joking apart ［例文］Joking apart, what do you do for a living, really. イギリス英語はたいてい Joking aside...
6. 「詫び」を入れる make an
7. 具合が悪いように「見える」 appears to be ill 迷うのは apparent か
8. わき起こるように「拍手」が始まるburst into applause ［例文］The audience burst into applause at the end of his speech. 動詞を使うなら The audience applauded the speaker at the end of her speech.
9. りんごは木に成る Apples grow on trees. 有名な言葉に、An apple a day keeps the doctor away.あり。 冠詞につき問題意識がないと、An apple grows on trees.というのが出ても、区別がつかない。
10. この規則は全員に適用される。 This rule applies to everyone. apply for something と apply to something の使い分けを問うべし。
