放射能検査をする scan sth/sb for radiation Some evacuees were scanned for radiation.

test sth/sb for radiation

Definition of scan verb (LOOK) from Cambridge Dictionary Online: Free English Dictionary and Thesaurus
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/scan_1
to look at something carefully, with the eyes or with a machine, in order to get information
