A: It's getting pretty late.

B: I've finished today's work. If there isn't anything urgent, I'd like to call it a day.

A: Oh, you managed to clear the backlog, then.

B: Yes, I've finished it all.

A: So, did you have the agreement reviewed by the legal department?

B: Of course, yes. I never fail to follow instructions.

A: Good. And have you made an appointment with Mr. Johnson?

B: Yes. Friday, at ten thirty.

A: Perfect. Oh, have you discussed the sales figures for the first half of the year with your colleagues?

B: Yes. We thoroughly discussed everything.

A: B-kun, you're a model of efficiency and a role model for all employees.

B: Thank you, A-san. I'm flattered.

A: Um, can I ask you a favor? I've got to make some additional requests.

朝の始業時に使える言い回し

▶ グループでの会話
• Okay, here's our to-do list for today.
• We have a morning meeting at the beginning of the day's work.
• Let's review yesterday's work and then discuss the tasks at hand.
☞ 訳は「仕事」で同じですが、taskは秘書によるスケジュール管理、電話の応答などのように、始まりと終わりがあり、パフォーマンスを評価できる点で、より抽象的な秘書の「業務」に相当する job と趣が異なります。
• Let me kick this off with a word of congratulations. Sales Team A achieved its 100 unit sales target for the quarter. Please join me in giving them a big hand.
• Let me start this off with a compliment from our CEO.
☞ 組合わさる off は、ゴルフでの tee off 同様、何かが始まるというニュアンスを強めるもので、特に、他動詞として使うと、The incident sparked off a riot.（その事件が暴動の引き金となった）のように、何かのきっかけまたは引き金となったという意味あいが出ます。
• I will initiate this meeting by calling the roll. [Formal]

▶ 個人どうしの会話
• A: What's your schedule like today? How about doing lunch? B: Great. What time and where shall we meet?
• A: What's your workload like? B: I'll be busy in the morning but things should be back to normal in the afternoon.
• A: Are you on a deadline or something? B: Not really, but I feel that way right now.
• A: How was your business trip? B: Great! A: That's good.

終業時に使える言い回し

• A: Oh, it's getting pretty/quite late. (OR It's getting kinda late. ← INFORMAL) I think this is enough for today. B: Yeah, I'm about to finish soon. And I'll call it a day.
• A: Let's wrap this up and call it a night. B: Okay, but give me five minutes and I'm done. A: Okay, five more minutes and we go for a drink. B: Yeah, five minutes.
