Paragraph 1:　 財務省が12日発表した３月の国際収支によると、経常黒字は前年同月比34.3％減の１兆6791億円で、前年同月比で２カ月ぶりの黒字幅縮小。原因は、東日本大震災の影響で自動車メーカーなどの部品供給網が寸断され、輸出が落ち込んだため。世界的な国債利回りの低下もあって、所得収支の黒字幅が減少したことも影響している。

Japan's current account surplus in March contracted 34.3% from a year earlier, standing at 1.679 billion, according to Ministry of Finance data released on March 12. This is the first drop in two months on a month-to-month basis. A massive earthquake in northeast Japan caused supply-chain disruptions, resulting in declining exports. A world-wide drop in yield of government bonds may have also affected the declining balance on income.

Paragraph 2:　貿易収支は2403億円の黒字ながら前年同月比77.9%（8487億円）という大幅な落ち込みを記録したが、３ヶ月連続の黒字幅縮小となる。このうち輸出は前年同月比1.4%減の5兆6367億円で、2009年11月以来、16ヶ月ぶりのマイナス。輸入は16.6%増の5兆3964円だったが、これは原油や資源価格の高騰による影響。

The trade balance registered a surplus of 240.3 billion yen, but it fell dramatically 77.9% and 848.7 billion yen over the same period of last year. The spread of trade surplus has decreased for a third consecutive month. Exports fell an annual 1.4% and were 5.6367 trillion yen. It was negative for the first time in 16 months since November 2009. Imports rose 16.6% and was 5.3964 trillion yen, being affected by a great rising price of resources like oil.

Paragraph 3:　所得収支は1兆5347円の黒字。前年同月比8.0%減である。利子収入の減少と対外直接投資による株式配当の減少などが主因。

The income balance stood at a surplus of 1.5347 trillion yen in March, down 8.0% from a year earlier mainly due to the decrease in interest income and dividends from foreign direct investment.

Paragraph 4:　サービス収支の内訳科目である旅行収支は、1395億円の赤字だったが、前年同月は、1347億円の赤字。海外旅行者の減少に伴い、赤字幅が若干拡大した。

Japan's tourism deficit in trade in services was 139.5 billion yen in March to 134.7 billion in the year-earlier period. Due to the decline of foreign tourists, the deficit became a little larger.

Paragraph 5:　財務省はあわせて2010年度の経常赤字が前年比0.9%増の15兆9210円だったと発表した。1-3月期経常黒字は貿易黒字幅の減少が響いて前期比24.8%の3兆7820億円。

The finance ministry also announced that for the 2010 fiscal year ended in March, Japan's current account surplus rose 0.9% from the year-earlier to 15.921 trillion yen. Japan's current account surplus in the January-March quarter fell 24.8% quarter-over-quarter to 3.782 trillion yen due to the decrease of the trade surplus.

The figure represented the first fall in two months as auto manufacturers were hurt by supply chain disruptions and exports fell following the Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami. Another factor was lower government bond yields throughout world markets that decreased the surplus on net investment income.

March trade balance posted a surplus of 240.3 billion yen, taking a 77.9% (848.7 billion yen) dive from a year ago, against a backdrop where the trade surplus has been declining for the third straight month. Exports fell 1.4% from a year earlier to 5.6367 trillion yen, recording a negative growth for the first time in 16 months since November 2009. Imports rose 16.6% to 5.3964 trillion yen amid soaring oil and commodity prices.

Investment income posted a surplus of 1.5347 trillion yen in March, down 8.0% from the year before, with the drop coming from a decrease in interest income and dividends from direct investments abroad.

Japan's tourism balance of payments, which is recorded under trade in services, showed a deficit of 139.5 billion yen compared with a deficit of 134.7 billion yen a year earlier, mainly the result of a fall in the number of foreign tourists.

The Ministry of Finance also announced that for the fiscal year ended in March 2010, Japan's current account surplus rose 0.9% from the year-earlier period to 15.921 trillion yen. Japan's current account surplus in the January-March quarter fell 24.8% quarter-over-quarter to 3.782 trillion yen due to the decrease in the trade surplus.
